Dust2.dk with $4,500 Danish cup

Dust2.dk has announced that it will host an invitational tournament, sponsored by eOddset and Kinguin, for Danish teams with 30,000 DKK (~$4,500) on offer.

Scheduled for June 25, the tournament aims to celebrate the launch of Dust2.dk, an affiliate website of HLTV.org that will focus on the Danish scene while also serving as a testbed for features that could be implemented here.

Eight Danish teams will be split into two double-elimination groups, with the top two from each group advancing to the playoffs to compete for 15,000 DKK (~$2,250).

Winner of the tournament will face SK Gaming

In addition to this prize, the winner will also get the chance to face SK Gaming in a separate match, with an additional 15,000 DKK on the line. The winner will receive 10,000 DKK ($1,500), while the losing side will take home 5,000 DKK ($750).

The list of invited teams will be released shortly. Below you can find all the informations about the tournament:

  • Date: June 25, 2016
  • Number of teams: 8 (Invite only)
  • Group Stage: BO1
  • Playoffs: BO3
  • Prizes: 15,000 DKK (~$2,250) + a place in the Super Final against SK Gaming

It's not like they just lose money from hosting a tournament lol, it's an investment that often pays back. How do you think ESL and Dreamhack can spend millions on tournaments each year?

Why not? Lacking funding for massive prizes doesn't rule out the hard work behind behind every tournament.

It would be weird for Acilion from SK Gaming to speak on behalf of Fallen and Co, wouldn't it? Aside from the fact that the BR SK Gaming lineup is more a "controversy" than an actual fact, as far as I am concerned.

I think that this is is a great way to inspire, cultivate and develop new teams. The opportunity to play against a pro team in itself is a great latitude and incentive; more than the money perhaps. I wish some thing like this was done in India too. Huge mass of students and others here play CS very regularly, but rather inadvertently. Very few team from here have ever made it big, but still not big enough owing to a decent skill-gap. I mean not long ago that Machinegun from Mongolz played with an Indian team for a small time. But apparently things did not work out properly and now he plays with a team who is actually devoting time and serious effort to be a bigger name in CS. If incentives like Danish Cup comes in the picture in India too, players here too would try to put in more effort to develop teams among themselves and play properly and more competitively rather than just casually. And the incentive doesn't has to be really big too. Small tournaments in metro cities to start with; offering something like a thousand dollars and even an online match with decently known pro teams (read NiP xD) would be a great start. Its nice that ESL India Premiership is happening. But a lot more needs to be done if e-sports is hoped to be taken seriously in countries like India all over the world. Edit: Are you listening HLTV ?? : )
