We are closing out our coverage of ECS Season 1 Finals with a winning interview, featuring Richard "shox" Papillon, who we questioned about the grand final and what G2's win means prior to the upcoming Major.

G2 came out victorious from a convincing two-map grand final, where they took revenge on Luminosity after losing to them at ESL Pro League last month.

Ofcourse you are! Maybe cause they are the biggest cheaters in the scene atm? Maye cause shox has AT LEAST 10 suspicious clips ONLY IN THIS EVENT? Every single time LG went to a bombsite as T there was 4 CTs holding it, how is that even possible?

I think they simply deserved, they read Lg's plays every round on Dust II... And won. LG failed a lot and G2 took advantage of that

Both teams played very well on dust2, on overpass it was pure domination, nothing more sadly, I expected it to go to a third map originally but when I saw the map pick I realised a 2-0 might happen.

Me too, i wasn't expecting that nuke. To be fair, I think the map pick was terrible for LG, Dust II was OK because LG would obviously ban cache só the worse map after cache was Dust II. Then even After the brutal victory over Fnatic on overpass from G2, they picked overpass... Could pick train so g2 would ban cbble and LG would ban nuke. Overpass being the third map should be the best choice, because in (g2) 1x0 (lg) situation the pressure is on LG's shoulders, but 1x1 the pressure is on both teams and the result could be veeery different

At the major they don't need to focus on G2 much. There are 7 maps that can be played, and G2 seem to have only 1 consistently strong map, which is overpass. You can say that they also play well on cache and dust2, but they lost cache 9-16 to NiP @ ELEAGUE group final (one of the most important match cuz they needed to win it to reach the playoff stage), and dust2 1-16 to mousesports @ ESL Cologne main qualifier (not that important since they still had 2 more opponents - Gambit and Cloud9, but 1-16?!), so I wouldn't say they're very strong on those maps. What else? cbble - 6-16 12-16 to Liquid @ ECS. train - 3-16 to NiP @ ELEAGUE group final, 10-16 to Gambit @ ESL Cologne main qualifier. mirage - 4-16 to Flipsid3, it was online and G2 bans it everytime since then. nuke - only 2 matches played (OpTic and Liquid), both started on the CT side, both won, on the T side they took 3/5 rounds vs OpTic and 5/12 rounds vs Liquid, I'd not say it's really impressive, God knows how it would end up if they started on the T side... So, what have they got? Strong maps: overpass. Decent maps: dust2, cache, nuke. Bad maps: cbble, train, mirage. At major they can ban only 2 maps, having 3 weak ones, it will be a big problem for them, and they have only a week to try to solve it. I'd say their chances to fail are big enough.

This time they have nothing to lose. They are expected to be eliminated in g.s + they won a event before a major so they couldnt care less about the major. G2, LG, fnatic and FaZe have pretty much the same map-pool, and if G2 actually can make the 1/4, they have their way to the final.
