k23 takes down Alternate

The very first upset at the World Cyber Games was seen in the second round of the group stage, when k23 from Kazakhstan defeated the German hope Alternate.

With the absence of mousesports, German should be rooting for Alternate at World Cyber Games. Alternate got drawn into a group with mTw, k23, ATE and Guerilla_Method. The Danes should on the paper be the toughest opponent, but the Kazakhstani team proved the experts wrong. A nail-biting close map went down to the wire with a 16:14 win on tuscan for the Kazakhstani team, k23. Tuscan is known to be a map on which German teams have a clear advantage, but the Kazakhstanis was clearly well prepared.

Actually yes it was: Många kvalevenemang, som till exempel det svenska, spelades med Counter-Strike 1.6 trots att man i Singapore kommer att använda sig av Counter-strike Source. Translated from Swedish to English: Many qualifiers, for example the swedish, were played with Counter-Strike 1.6 even though Counter-Strike Source will be played in Singapore.

Yeh you're right. The article I read a long time ago stated smth like "k23 shocked everybody by almost (the word I didn't remember :P) winning at WCG. They proved everybody that teams from Middle East and East can be extremely strong as well as teams from Europe"

Hadn't really heard about them so that's why :p But after hearing that they came 2:nd in 2005, I really believe that they have potential. Looking forward to see if they can shock me even harder :D

seems like tuscan doesnt fit all teams, not even if you're a topteam and playing it on regular basis in your countrys esl pro series(which results in quite a lot practice wars on it) it doesnt have to fit you, really .. i think many teams who actually know the map well have great trouble on this map by various reasons and it seems like the map only fits a certain playstyle which only some teams got, i cant point my finger on what its caused by though

Anyways, the teams were playing at the same terms, all the guys had enough time to get prepared fot this match, so, I think, even though de_tuscan is not such a great map like de_dust2 and doesn't seem to be comfortable for some teams, we shouldn't say that de_tuscan is random. Random is playing dota all-stars on the WCG CS 1.6 superfinal instead of 1.6. Alternate Attax is still a great team and they still have a lot to show. So, good luck.
