G2 invited to IEM Oakland

G2 are the sixth name on the participants list of IEM Oakland, ESL have revealed via Twitter.

G2 have been confirmed at the 12-team event taking place from November 19-20 after five other top-ten teams: SK, Virtus.pro, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Astralis and Liquid.

The Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon-led squad recently finished outside of the top eight at ELEAGUE, where Simon "⁠Fuks⁠" Florysiak stood in for Cédric "⁠RpK⁠" Guipouy, following a loss to MOUZ in the Last Chance Qualifier.

G2 confirmed at IEM Oakland

A week prior to the event in Atlanta G2 suffered defeats to fnatic and SK in ESL One Cologne's group stage to finish in last place.

The exact prize fund of IEM Oakland has not been revealed yet, it is expected to be announced in the coming weeks along with the remaining six participants:

How is G2 tier 1? They had 1 good major which they didn't win, they have no consistent results and they got last place at the last major. They also hardly ever get out of groups. They are a tier 2 team with 1 good month, nothing more.

dont make a fool of yourself. One good major? Hmm, they got 2nd at ESL Pro league, lost to LG in a bo5 with a 2-3 scoreline bringing the 5th map to OT. On that event they also beat NiP, Liquid and fnatic. They WON ECS where they beat LG in a bo3 convincingly, and between these two events they didn't lose any online matches. They are the only team to beat LG/SK in a bo3 in the last 3 months. They got last place on the last major? Really, are you really using this as an argument to prove that they are bad? LOL get a clue. They were in the hardest group in cs history with the two best teams in the world, and they lost 2 bo1's in close fashion. "They also hardly get out of groups" Weird, because out of their 5 last attended events they have gotten out of groups in 4 of them. The only one they didn't was as I said when they got the group of death, but I guess losing bo1's to fnatic and SK = tier 2 right? One good month? Hmm as I recall they had a solid 3 months going between the start of ELEAGUE and the major. If they are tier 2, guess what? So is VP, fnatic and Na'Vi, and the only t1 team is SK. Your logic is beyond dumb.
