PENTA win ESL Meisterschaft Summer

PENTA grabbed the ESL Meisterschaft Summer title as well as €7,500 in prizemoney by defeating EURONICS 2-1 (Cobblestone 9-16, Cache 16-7, Overpass 16-8) in the grand final.

Over 30 teams took part in the qualifying phase for ESL Meisterschaft Summer, which featured five online tournaments where participants gathered points according to their placing.

Top eight teams by points then met in the main tournament's group stage at the beginning of August. PANTHERS and ALTERNATE aTTaX topped their respective groups, while PENTA and EURONICS finished second.

loWel's PENTA grab a domestic title

The best-of-three, single-elimination playoffs took place during gamescom, as the four aforementioned sides gathered in Cologne earlier today.

In the end, PENTA — who used coach Alexander "kakafu" Szymanczyk instead of David "Kairi" de Miguel due to having to field at least three players from Germany, Austria or Switzerland — stood at the top after narrow victories over Christian "crisby" Schmitt's side as well as Robin "ScrunK" Röpke and company, grabbing the domestic title and €7,500 for first place.

krystal and kakafuboth had enough impact frags, kakafu especially on nuke.. and tahsin played great on map 3, mikeS played great on cache and overpass with hardcore carry.. im rather impressed those nonamers put up such a good fight, alternate is the team to flame, they looked horribly lost vs penta :---)

yes so sad! I remember the good old 1.6 GER EPS with realy good pricemoney, Intel Friday Night Games ( offline matches in diffrent locations ) etc. EPS back in times was like an early version of ECS today, with good amount of offline matches, high quality kind of TV production etc. I cry when I see EPS today! Even germans dont care for this, there were like 4-5k viewers in the final match omfg!

True! These national championships are unattractive. That's why it is way better to put your focus on international events. The only teams competing in these championships are organizations with money but students as players. Most of them are only semi-pros to earn a bit of money to be able to study. It's like a part-time job.
