MYM and LUq part ways

The Polish MYM team has lately not been delivering the results they should have – Today LUq has been removed from the team.

MYM has not been close to successful during this fall. The team has one of the most successful teams and stable teams for a long time now, but today the team part ways Lukas LUq Wnek.

The departure of LUq leaves a huge gab, who will fill it? The Polish team won the ESWC 2008 Grand Final versus e-STRO, re-defending their title from last year, but following tournaments, the team just did not perform. MYM states that no replacement has been found yet, but as DreamHack is just around the corner, a substitute.

The team states following:

"This year was very hard for our team, we had some ups and downs, but always felt that we should do better. During the few past events, we have had the feeling that we needed some change, to get our team back in the game.

Sometimes changes are needed to give a team a fresh kick of positive energy to work and evolve. This was one of the hardest decisions in our gaming history, but we felt that it's the right direction - and the direction in which we have to go.

LUq was always a very important player on our team, and a good friend, which made the decision even harder. We hope that he will find another great team so he can still play on competitive level."

MYM is now left with following four players:

Mariusz "loord" Cybulski
Jakub "kuben" Gurczyński
Filip "Neo" Kubski
Wiktor "Taz" Wojtas

Who will MYM pick up? Fingers are pointed at Frag eXecutors and DELTA as the teams, where the new MYM member will come from. Who will be the new guy in MYM, we will be a lot wiser on Monday at 18:00 CET, where the new member is to be annonuced.

dOk could be good replacement, but he probably can't be the first sniper, because kuben is still in the team. If the replacement had to be really needed the best decision is to remove loord instead of dOk. IMO

Well i think it can be a good thing for the team. SK got zet and they got better, they got more motivated and are playing very well. mTw, got whimp and they started winning for real. The motivation and the game just can't evolve if its the same 5 players staying together for so long.. it just becomes "rutine" and the motivation drops down. With fresh blood they will problerbly get new ideas new tactics and more motivation :)

what i am saying thease guys has been playing together since pentagram?. maybe even before that. At some point they must have been running out of ideas and motivation. They aren't number 1 anymore, and they havn't performed at the latest turnaments. LUq has been a very good player for MYM/Pentagram. And i am sure that if they hadn't tried it all right now to get back on the top, they wouldn't have kicked him. But i think they have been trying for a while now to make it work and get back to the top. But they just couldn't do it. So now they try another way, trying with some new blood.

sorry i don't think you are right. just look at alternate attax, mibr, wnv(especially when the team was already strong enough), they did roster changes and apparently changes ruin themselves. i agree with you that a move motivates a team to practice more, but the fact is that a good player that suit with the team is really hard to find. sk as i think is just few examples which a move make a team better. i hope that removing Luq won't lead the team to death cause i love mYm players when they were in pentagram. sorry for my ugly english...

well look at mTw aswell.. they got whimp? and now they win alot? Also when they got Sunde people was like WTF? but now he is the esport player of the year! and if you look at the examples you came with, the teams didn't do the changes because of "they got stuck" they did the changes because of people going inactive or for other reasons. I am almost sure that MYM has tried almost everything to make it work with the old lineup. But i didn't seemed to be enough, so they had to do something els. but ofc. that i can't be 100% sure of.

Okay, maybe it doesn't work with all teams. But that's their choice, it's not one of those programs in wich you can vote by calling them. We don't belong to the team, we don't know how they play, we don't know if they had internal problems or something, so we shouldn't make precipitated conclusions.

But LOOK at MYM 2008 they have won ESWC, and they got 2. place in Dubai at the global challenge. But besides that they haven't been performing. (Please correct me if i forgot something this year). And i bet they have tried everything to get back on the top, and now they only see the last way and that is a new brain with fresh motivation and new ideas. but whatever, they should do what you say... stay together and dig a bigger grave for themselves.

What!? I knew that there will be some changes. LUQ had some good and bad days, but he was always played good. At least Loord is a poor player.He should be changed. fnatic was playing with the same line-up way shorter than mym. i mean, in 2006 and the beggining of 2007 Tentpole played for fnatic, then he left and the team picked up Archi. on the topic: it will be really hard to find replacement for LUq in poland. there are few good teams here, but none of them play on the same level that mym. it isnt sweden here unfortunately.

That was to be expected - Luq clearly knew what was coming to him after the latest tournament. On the other hand, I was expecting Loord to be removed as well. Loord clearly didnt have his top skill lately, match against ATS proved it. This move will not be in favour of MYM, as one person said here already, playing longer helps the teamplay without any doubt. From what I read on .pl websites, (this is just gossip, so do not take it seriously!) is that there might be a tournament, closely watched by the MYM staff, to determine who might be suitable. This is just like with Kuben, who had his luck and got picked to PGS.

it was a long time I got really shocked after reading news at hltv.org... well, until today. The shock is so deep I still can't believe it really happened... My view - it was a grave mistake to do. After playing together for 6 f-ing years they can't find another solution than to kick LUq ??? LOL ! I think this is the stupidest decision in their gaming history. You can see the lack of performance at fnatic too, they are not in good form too but they didn't change anything at the team because THEY GOT BRAIN! After you were No. 1 in the World like fnatic did, kicking a player is not a reason for you to make a "change" because you might got already the best 5 players in the world and you don't need any other new players. You need something else, maybe more moral support if you see that they can't bring home important matches like they did few months ago when they were in form. I saw at WCG on the MYMs' players faces that they are demoralized when they loose important rounds and they can't come back in the game.

The only reason I can find, is that they had some serious argue about the game/playing style/leadership or whatever. I really doubt that they would throw the Luq out just because of worse performance. If that would be the way that big organizations work, then Ins would be in Begrip, not in Fnatic, now.

rumours usually have some kind of logic behind them...but this one is just pathetic... in the article it gives a brief description about the history of pgs/mym, and then it says that Kuben will be leaving, and Luq is coming back along with Pionas. I asked the author of that article was he high or just retarded - why would Luq come back after a day, why would Kuben, clearly a player who is playing very well lately step down, and why would Pionas still be considered to join mym... Luq left, Pionas is replacing him, that's that!
