Immortals, Cloud9 advance to semis

Immortals have earned their place in the semi-finals with a narrow win over Selfless (Overpass 16-13, Mirage 16-11), while Cloud9 bested CLG on the other side of the bracket (Mirage 16-2, Train 16-11).

After HEROIC became the first Northern Arena semi-finalists with a win over OpTic, Immortals and Selfless played the second quarter-final, kicked off on Overpass.

The teams traded rounds back and forth at the beginning before the American gained control for five rounds in a row, making it 8-3. As Wilton "zews" Prado and João "felps" Vasconcellos each got a quad-kill to their name, Immortals grabbed three out of the four remaining rounds for six rounds on the T side.

The Brazilians closed the gap to 10-9 after the pistol round and a couple of gunrounds, resetting their opponent's economy, but Selfless managed to clinch the forcebuy and extended their lead to 12-9. With felps picking up crucial opening kills, the favourites evened the score at 13-13.

Immortals edged Selfless on their way to semi-finals

Henrique "HEN1" Teles then stepped up to the plate clutching a 1v2, helping Immortals secure the map at 16-13 despite Selfless' forcebuy attempt in the last round.

Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte and company once again ran away with the first half of their Terrorist side on their own pick, Mirage, securing eight out of the first nine rounds in convincing fashion.

Once Immortals stopped the rot and strung a couple of rounds together on the back of Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles' quad-kill in a 2v4, they didn't look back and gave themselves a chance in the map with seven rounds in total prior to switching over to the offence.

After Mitch "mitch" Semago almost single-handedly defended a B bombsite attack in the second pistol round, Immortals replied back in the forcebuy and gained their first lead in the map at 10-9. Ricardo "boltz" Prass then won a 1v2 thanks to smart play around a smoke as his team were only two rounds away from winning the series. Economy was up against Selfless, who lost the series at 16-11 shortly after trading rounds.

In the third quarter-final, Cloud9 established dominance right from the start, winning the pistol and numerous gunrounds with an aggressive Counter-Terrorist side on Mirage.

CLG only managed to clinch two rounds in the half, so once they lost the following pistol round, it was all she wrote as Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert's squad picked up a very straightforward first map at 16-2.

n0thing and co. powered through CLG

Map two looked significantly better for CLG, who got to a quick 5-1 lead as CT at the beginning, with the only round they lost being Mike "shroud" Grzesiek's 1v2 clutch. Cloud9 didn't let the half slip however, winning five rounds in a row themselves as the map was even at 6-6.

Trading rounds, Cloud9 forced their opponents on low economy, resulting in a 8-7 half in their favour. Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham's triple in the second pistol round pushed his team to 10-7, but CLG soon made it even at 10-10.

The two traded rounds again, but Cloud9 won the following forcebuy and shortly closed out the series at 16-11.
