GamePlay skip DreamHack

GamePlay stay home due to the financial crisis.

Only five days left until the northern hemisphere opens their doors to the biggest event of the winter, DreamHack. The main attraction as usual is the Counter-Strike WGT tournament with a huge prize purse of 400.000 SEK. Teams from all over the world are coming for the tournament. Seven of G7s top ten are signed up for this event but unfortunately the Finnish team GamePlay will not be attending.

Shayan the manager of GamePlay explains the situation like this:

"The finance crisis has slowed down our income. We managed to get out money but not in time to book the trip. It just cost too much. At the same time we need to train as well so we will be going to Poland this weekend for a show match."

This is the first sign of a team being affected by the global financial crisis and hopefully the last one before DreamHack.

I think the first sign of teams being affected is CGS, compLexity Syndicate etc. But yeah I guess in 1.6 this is the first sign. :)

I smell b***s**t. Sorry... A trip to Poland shouldn't be so much cheaper than to Sweden from Finland. I think they just have got a really good offer and they take the safe money instead of the tournament.

Oh, and I think that fnatic almost missed the event for the same show-match, they just switched their opinion to Dreamhack and now GamePlay will miss the event instead of them. Am I paranoid? :)

The new lineup of GamePlay will consist of tihOp plastE lurppis naSu and SPIKEONE. contE quits gaming due to lack of motivation and ruuit does his military service. Information about the show match: espmania.pl/

Much more money too! ;DD The players would earn about € 200 000,00 a week! ;D Well, Beckham does! So only THE best would, and the best financial based organisation could pay ofcourse, but you know what I mean! ;D

maybe if gameplay won an event instead of buckling against top teams and finishing 3rd-4th all the time they might of been able to afford it
