WESA unveils Player Council

The World Esports Association (WESA) has formally unveiled its Player Council, consisting of one representative from each member of the federation.

The player-elected council, the first of its kind in esports, will "advocate on behalf" of professional gamers on matters including "policies, rules and player transfers" of the tournaments that are operated under WESA regulations.

Viktor "vuggo" Jendeby, who recently transitioned from coaching to managing at fnatic, has been unanimously elected by the players to act as chairman of the council, which he will represent on the WESA Executive Board.

vuggo is WESA's Player Council Chairman

According to WESA, the role of Player Council Chairman "will give players important insight and input into decision making at the highest level, as well as the ability to help shape the formation and adjustment of rules and policies which directly affect players’ careers."

"I was honored to be elected by my team to represent their interests within WESA, as well as my competitive peers to serve as the Chairman of the Players Council," he is quoted by WESA as saying.

"I am looking forward to working with Commissioner Hershman and the fellow Executive Board members to ensure all players in WESA get the representation they deserve."

Below you can find the representatives of each organisation on the Player Council:

no it's pretty fucking stupid to call it "technically a bo2 cuz it was 2 maps" because thats not what "best of X" means. they won 2-0 in a bo3

A bo2 is a COMPLETELY different thing. BEST OF 3 means winning 2 maps = win. Bo2 format can have draws as a final result of a map. Go back to CoD

It's a possibility, but it's very unlikely considering WESA is in collaboration with ESL who do nothing but stick to Valve's rules. Even though ex-iBP and Epsilon are only banned from Valve-sponsored events, ESL will probably still continue to follow suite with their decision to keep those players out.

Wait, so current epsilon team is also banned from valve sponsored events? What do the players have to do with the problems of the org? Someone explain to me please
2016-09-15 00:14

No, it was all of the ex-Epsilon teammates except for ScreaM (obviously); Uzzziiii, GMX, fyx0, and B1GGY. The old Epsilon lineup was French/Belgian. The organization was deemed not at fault, as it was an under-the-table deal with the four aforementioned players, thus it is just the players that received Valve-bans and not the organization. Epsilon's current Swedish lineup is not barred from any events at all.

This is the European council. They don't give a fuck about iBP. They will do whats best for them. Maybe PEA will have something for swag in particular since Jason Lake is in PEA and he is a strong advocate for swag's unban (idk how he feels about iBP as a whole)

You do realize that not all of the people mentioned in that list are players, right? NaiK, Vuggo, and Starix are all non-players, which means there is potential for Friberg to move to a management position inside of NiP and still represent NiP as their chairman.

A players in-game skills have no correlation to outside management work, what the fuck would make you think that there is any kind of comparison there? Look at Vuggo; his in-game skills are clearly worse than Friberg's and yet he still went from Fnatic's cheerleader/coach into a management roll inside of the org.

Doesn't matter, some people just don't have what it takes to go from player to manager/higher up, just because you've been around for a long ass time doesn't mean you'll be good at a managerial position. Same thing IRL, just because you do your job well and know the job/etc well enough, you could do way worse if you were promoted to be a manager/etc.

Literally no player organization that is represented by a league will be allowed to full-stop have all decisions be made to 100% benfit the players. If there was one, single and standalone players union that involved ALL top players, outside of all orgs and leagues, only then will the players begin to make headway.

WESA and Valve are corrupted faggots. they pay teams like fnatic and envy for loose at majors. u really think that envy can loose gambit?) cz vavle need make show. if every major final will be fnatic vs envy or sk it is not interesting for community. also Valve paid chinese team at ti5 dota2 to loose match vs EG. cz if chinese team will win again it will be not interesting for public. valve need develop and increase cs go and dota community and they making show

man im not. many pro gamers dota 2 know that but they dont talk on public. and in cs go i think same shit. i have higher education and im good in marketing. im russian and i should rejoice that gambit win vs envy but im not cz this 2 wins not fair it is obviously. fnatic and envy was two best teams in 2014-2015 and they cant just begin to loose vs gambit or liquid. cs go became show, not competition. like many matches in box, football and other. at least in matches with fnatic and envy.

They can "just begin to lose" because the skill level and meta doesn't stay the same for two years, players get better, players get worse, meta changes, game changes...just because someone was the best at one point does not mean that they will forever be the best and that other teams can't take on the best and win

man look at this matches watch demos they throw. it is 100% throwing matches, they dont used even 40% their potential and tactics. and in dota 2 CDEC go on roshan like idiots all pro playes saw that it was very dissimilarly on them. EG knew that and they dont even really glad to victory at ti5.

I can't talk about dota with you bro I don't play it so I don't know the point you're bringing up there but you are free to believe what you want just know that your opinion of valve or tournament organizers will change nothing within this scene because the money to them is more important than community opinion

I highly doubt that WESA can change something, may be they will be able to coordinate small tournament dates, but I don't think so that Valve is willing to cooperate with them. Next major is going to be held in January which will guarantee us low level of Counter-Strike and I doubt that WESA can change this date.

"will give players important insight and input into decision making at the highest level, as well as the ability to help shape the formation and adjustment of rules and policies which directly affect players’ careers." What? Nice words, no sense.

If this "council" can actually convince Valve to change CS:GO for the better and improve key aspects that are forever forgotten in exchange for skins and cases, then it will be something worth while. If not, who cares, nothing will ever change in order to benefit players or community itself.
