Russian qual. for WCA WCC of CS:GO *
WCA has revealed a ~$112,000 tournament called "WCA World Contest Championship of CS:GO", a "nation versus nation" event that will feature Russian, Chinese and UK teams and take place in Bejing, China. The qualification cycle will kick-off today with a 128-team Russian open qualifier.
*The organizer updated the name from "WCA Russia vs China vs UK".
The Russian qualifier will be handled by WCA themselves and starts today with a 128-team open qualifier that will be held on FACEIT. The two best teams from the qualifier will join the eight invited Russian teams to play the group stage from September 21-29.
It is important to note that only teams that consist of exclusively Russian citizens may compete in today's open qualifier, but the rule does not apply to the invited teams.
The group stage will consist of two groups of five teams playing best-of-one matches in a round-robin format. After all matches have been played, the two best teams from each group will proceed to the playoffs.
Teams invited to the closed part of the Russian qualifier are as follows:
5FRAGS |
Preparation |
Enso |
Comanche |
Quantum Bellator |
PuddiPuddi |
Shadows |
ex-NoKsuKao |
The final part of the qualifier is a single-elimination bracket that will have best-of-three semi-finals and a best-of-five grand final match, with the winner of the qualifier receiving a slot at the WCA World Contest Championship of CS:GO LAN that will take place in Beijing, China, on October 12-18.

How the teams from the other two regions: UK and China, will be decided is something that is left up to the organizational partners within the countries - with Gfinity being confirmed for the UK.
WCA World Contest Championship for CS:GO LAN finals are expected to feature a total of nine teams and a "nation vs nation" system with prize money rewarded for each win.
The prize pool for the finals, that includes travel expenses, is ¥750,000 (~$112,000) and will be distributed as follows:
Nations prize pool: ¥300,000 (~$45,000)
Teams prize pool: ¥450,000 (~$67,000)
The organizer announced that they will be revealing more details about the LAN finals soon.
