EnVyUs win Gfinity Invitational

Cache was chosen as the first map of the Gfinity Invitational grand final. Envy started out the better, leading 4-1 when they stabilized after the first three rounds went back and forth due to forcebuy victories.

Tomáš "⁠oskar⁠" Šťastný's entry on A helped MOUZ take the first gunround, but a reply in the following reset their economy, as they dropped three in a row. A similar situation occured once more and the next two rounds were exchanged and Envy ended up going over to Terrorists with 11-4.

MOUZ took a stand on their own defence however, winning the first pistol round and multiple gunrounds, equalizing the score at 11-11 as nV barely got any foothold in any of the rounds.

That forced a timeout on the French side, but it seemed to have made little difference, because Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač's side reached map point. Vincent "⁠Happy⁠" Schopenhauer's team finally got their first round on the board with a well-timed B attack. Dan "⁠apEX⁠" Madesclaire started entrying into sites, helping Envy take map one to overtime. There, mouz began the better as they took two rounds to their name, but their opponents clinched the last round and all three in the other half, winning Cache 19-17.

Going over to Cobblestone, MOUZ picked up the first pistol round as CT, but dropped the next anti-forcebuy as the Frenchmen went on to grab a 5-1 lead on the back of entries from Happy and apEX.

NiKo then got a triple in a fast rotation for their second round, but their economy got reset and nV got on another roll of rounds for 9-2. Towards the end, mouz got three out of four rounds to keep them in contention at 5-10.

Winning the upcoming pistol, Envy were well on their way to a 2-0 lead in the series, but another triple by NiKo helped mouz climb back slowly despite being up against map point. The Germany-based team kept forcing EnVy on ecos, but the fourth attempt at 15-12 eventually worked out after Happy got a triple of his own with the AWP.

Chris "⁠chrisJ⁠" de Jong kicked off the third map, Dust2, with a USP-S triple on platform, helping mouz reach 5-0 after Denis "⁠denis⁠" Howell picked up a quad-kill in the first gunround as well. Envy handled the next round, but dropped the following a found themselves having to eco, as MOUZ got to 7-1. Off of great play from chrisJ and NiKo, they also got two out of the next three rounds, both of which were 2v4 scenarios, for 9-2.

Envy picked up the slack towards the end, but they still switched over with only four rounds due to MOUZ picking up an eco victory on the back of Timo "⁠Spiidi⁠" Richter and oskar.

The Frenchmen lowered the deficit to four rounds once they got the second pistol round, and managed to shut down mouz's economy twice over the next four rounds, not letting go of more than one round in a row. With that, and some great individual play from apEX and Kenny "⁠kennyS⁠" Schrub, Envy clawed back and got their first lead in the map at 14-13. chrisJ's double then equalized the score, but Timothée "⁠DEVIL⁠" Démolon's triple secured his team the victory at 16-14.
