Kylie - "We have a small advantage"

Along comes the second interview before DreamHack Winter this week. This time it’s Begrips turn in the spot light.

Dreamhack opens its doors on Thursday. One of the twelve wildcarded teams is Begrip. A team who has over the years come and gone with new lineups but also in a way managed to bring forth some of the finest players of today. The current team has seen a lot of lineup changes within a short period of time. But now Aras “kylie” Parashpar explains what things look like before and after DreamHack Winter:

DreamHack Winter starts this Thursday Kylie. How has the team prepared for this event?

We have done the best we can under the circumstances we are in. Mainly training online but the fact that people work and study has kept us from being able to bootcamp.

Does it feel like the team has managed to prepare enough to go far in this tournament?

Well yes hopefully. We have a small advantage keeping in mind the fact that we can change our gameplay based on our opponents. We’ve done this by studying HLTV demos and it feels like that is good enough.

Begrip received their wildcard from the Swedish Spelarenan ladder. While participating there did it feel like you were in a class of your own or was it a prestige filled ladder?

We felt like we were a level above the competition there. Despite that it we felt it was worth it anyway for the wildcard.

WGT is the biggest tournament left this year. What does the tournament mean for the team?

WGT means just as much as every other tournament. We will give everything and do our best. If we fail we will hang in there and take the experience with us and just train for the next event. On top of that some of the world’s best teams are showing up and the prizes are crazy so we are really looking forward to it!

You mentioned some of the world’s best teams. Who do you see as being the hardest competition?

That’s an obvious mTw who are an incredibly strong team right now with very skilled players.

What is the goal in this prestige filled tournament?

As always we will aim at number one. That is what one wants to achieve.

What would be your top3 prediction?

1.Begrip 2.mTw 3. Lanklan.

Back to the team we have seen that Ian “molander” Molander is playing for Begrip again. Is that a temporary solution or will he be part of the starting five from now on?

For the time being it is a temporary solution and hopefully it can stay this way until the Inferno Online Lan playoffs next year. After that we will have to relook at things and we will see.

You mentioned the Inferno Online Lan playoffs next year. What do things look like for the team after the new year?

First and foremost the Inferno Online Lan playoffs will be held in early January. After that the ESWC national qualifiers will probably start popping up. Other than that nothing is planned.

Begrips roster for DreamHack winter will include:

Sweden Aras "kylie" Parashpar
Sweden Fredrik "hibb" Isaksson
Sweden Max "azl" Höög
Sweden Pelle "fnazze" Höglund
Sweden Ian "molander" Molander

Begrip will be playing in group A along with mTw and MYM. A tough group but time will tell if demo studying will pay off. HLTV.org will of course be on location and providing full coverage.

Good luck guys, but i dont think looking at HLTV demo's is going to cut it for you guys :) No doubt they know how to play counter-strike but i must say, in my eyes they are not even close to be able to compete against those teams attending. But prove me wrong, would be happy to see Begrip with some crazy results.

idd nice interview, but to be honest dont think Blank or any other semi-pro swedish team can reach the top3 :| I know they are really strong teams with really good players, but there's always something missing

absolutely wrong. none of the teams have reached something special, which ppl can remember. they're even in the official ranks. they change names and line-ups every now and then. both teams are semi-pro. doesn't matter if SK/fnatic has hard time against them. they are still semi-pro unless they prove the opposite

am i childish? because i think that players in Blank and lanklan are not semipros? !face! was the best in NiP when he played there and is awsome right now !Snajdan! was awsome in SK and is one of the best igls !GeT_RighT! have played in SK and NiP and are probably the best swedish player right now.. !Gux! played in team sweden and have played games with SK or maby it was NiP and he is one of the best aimers.... And all players in lanklan is just insane atm... and blank and lanklan have beat other teams then SK and fnatic. They aint semis to me but if you think they are its ok 4 me.. im not going to say you are childish just because you have another opinion.

u see - now u talk about -players-. I agreed there are great players in those teams. But i talked about the teams exactly. I agree they're good, too. But they haven't win anything so big and are not so constant in their perforamnce. dont want to argue anymore.

well how many big events have you seen them in? i havnt seen 1... and i dont think it is a "must" to win big events to be consider as a pro team just look at GP... but i agree Blank havent been constant... but i think lanklan have.. and i think they will get a good organisation soon. But i dont think they are better then the best pro teams.. i think that they develops good... anyway lets end this...maby you are right :)

First I check teams before I wtite anything... (on WCG I made mistakes...) Honestly I don't really know BEgrip, but this predict might be too optimist... :) Lot of good teams are in this Series, and most of them can be surprises. I hope not so famous teams can be successful too, they deserve more attention, more sponzors, organization helps... I hope this series can help to them.... GL HF all of them (but I prefer lanklan to win :)

Well over the years begrip has lifted forth some of the best players we know today. They were ranked best in the world a while by gotfrag. They won WEG once will the lineup; Calippo, RobbaN, f0rest, Tentpole and Iskall. All players that either have been or are famous right now. Other than that the list goes on, azl, face, Jaegarn, snajdan, goodfella etc... the list goes on =) They usually lift forth the good players that are later on bought or go to better organizations.

You're quite right, i should have said scandinavian lan or a nordic lan. If i'm not wrong there's only 3/4 teams not from these countries. The funny part is they're all in the same group except MYM. No offense, the better teams are here ^^

yes and you have to remember that it is swedish lan that in the start was meant just 4 swedish gamers....and if you look at EM in LA it was moost teams from USA and its like that in every event... if a event is in a country it is almost always more teams from that country.. except to WCG
