Virtus.pro edge OpTic for NY semis

Virtus.pro survive a narrow 16-14 Cobblestone encounter with OpTic and become the last team in ESL One New York semi-finals.

Virtus.pro and OpTic vetoed their way to Cobblestone, where the former picked up an early 4-1 lead on the offence. Despite being on an eco, OpTic managed to turn the tide by rushing middle and coming out on top of a big fight, eventually equalizing the score at 4-4.

In the next several rounds, OpTic had to save weapons over and over to no avail, but the weapons they snatched away in an eco round at 8-4 allowed them to start racking up rounds. Keith "NAF" Markovic and Tarik "tarik" Celik put in 10 kills over the next three rounds, helping OpTic reach seven at halftime.

Virtus.pro barely survived the OpTic encounter

Defending an A split, Virtus.pro took control of the first three rounds of the second half with some help from Jarosław "pashaBiceps" Jarząbkowski who saved a scary anti-eco situation in the process.

The first two gunrounds were traded, but OpTic got a hold of the economy after grabbing the next one, as Virtus.pro had to go on a double eco and the North American squad clawed back to 11-12.

After the next two rounds were traded again, Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas's team had to opt for two more ecos and OpTic grabbed their first lead in the match at 14-13. Virtus.pro finally put their foot down, defending B comfortably three rounds in a row for a narrow 16-14 victory.

Lol this was funny. But really OpTic made it possible for G2 to destroy themselves. And G2 is supposed to be really good at Cache.

I mean 13-5 loss from Astralis, and incredible bad showing in Liquid -and OpTic match, you can't deny that. G2 also suppose to be best at dd2, got destroyed by Mouz in Qualifier 16:1...They're up and down, all depends on the duo.

I agree that G2's form hasn't been the best, but if OpTic hadn't played like they did G2 probably take that match.

Yea I guess, but it seems like they're doing it at least somewhat arbitrarily since based on the match records they also could've put liquid vs sk and navi vs vp

OG never have any luck at A, so B is really their only option. Cobble has been up and down for them lately.

I feel like that's due to the fact that they like to run down the time as well, the had some good A takes.

VP are "easy" to read as their lineup remains intact for almost 3 years. Optic is hard to read as their lineup is ... 3 months old? Once there are more demos and povs of them they will be easier to beat. So yeah, I'm not surprised it was a hard game.

While this is true to an extent I would hope a newish team like OpTic would evolve, so as no to become too predictable.

Not possible. You can't create tactics endlessly. They will develop their own style at some point and stick to what works best for them.

Yes, but the timing of when you use those tactics are everything. I am not saying come up with endless strats, I am just saying know when to fake or be aggressive so you can keep the other team guessing.

When youve played longer you are harer to read since you dont only do the basic stuff you know what kind of risky plays your teammate can do and you can help him achieve those etc.

That is true to a degree. At some point you develop style and decide that you don't need risky plays. You need effective solutions - not risk. You can't build confidence without stability. There is room for surprises, but in order to serve them you need that confidence, so it's a vicious circle in a way.
