zonic - "100% ready for Dreamhack"

mTw’s very own Danny “zonic” Sørensen tells us what his thoughts are before DreamHack in HLTV.org’s third pre- DreamHack interview.

Only a few weeks ago we were able to experience the great mTw’s wrath. A team who managed to surpass the group of death, and win every single match in the single elimination. In the final they beat SK 2-1 making them the champions of WCG 2008.

But that is not all. mTw has managed to claim quite a few first places at several tournaments this year. Starting off with the KODE5 global finals, working their way through the ESWC Masters and bringing home WEM trophy in China.

All victories that can questionably make them this years most successful team. DreamHack brings expectations both from the team and the fans. zonic tells us what his thoughts are before the last major event of the year. DreamHack Winter:

After all the hype from WCG mTw will be finding themselves in Jönköping this week for DreamHack Winter. Have you managed to prepare for this event? How in that case?

Yes we have. Not as much as we would have liked. We managed to train and prepare enough so I believe we will be 100% ready for DreamHack this week. We have been playing online and had heaps of matches lately. We haven’t had the time to bootcamp but I’m confident that we will do great in Sweden.

You guys have really been in top shape lately. Winning several huge tournaments this year, most recently WCG and WEM. Have you reached a climax or is there more to come?

I think there is more to come. Winning such major tournaments and events is hard work but it’s kind of new for us and I’m certain we can improve our game. Now we are the team to beat and we just need to be ready and prepared for that.

Other teams such as Fnatic and the former PGS that have dominated or managed to go through tournaments without losing in the manner that you have, often become over studied and anti stratted. Will this happen to you? Or are you able to win your matches despite that or change your game play?

We are aware that it’s extremely hard to win a match if you are getting read and anti stratted by your opponents based on your normal tactics. The fact that people study us and know how we play on the different maps makes things harder. Hopefully we can use that to our advantage and fool our opponent in to miss reading us.

On many occasions in interviews mTw has stated if they win the gun rounds they will win the match. So have you trained your pistol rounds?

Haha, no not really. We just forgot we had that problem and then we started winning gun rounds. Gun rounds are so random, but we hope we can continue winning them in the future

This is more or less the last event this year so what would a first place here mean? What are your ambitions?

As always we will of course aim for the first place. But it’s really difficult to keep winning tournaments. The teams that are attending DreamHack are the best, so we will be aiming for first place but if we finish top3 we won’t be disappointed.

So who do you think will be the top three teams? Who will be the toughest team to beat?

I think it’s between Mousesports, us and MYM or SK for the top three. Fnatic seems like they are tired of playing cs after playing so much this year. MYM got a new player and that must be a huge change for them since they haven’t changed their lineup in ages. So we are looking forward to seeing how they manage.

The end of the year comes closer every day, so what do things look like for mTw after this event and year?

We are pretty open for suggestions right now. We have to discuss our new contract with mTw very soon so after that we will know more. We will have our titles to defend this next year that we have won this year. Hopefully we can bring even more titles back to Denmark as well.

The expectations are high for mTw, but only time can tell how they will do, one thing is however certain, they will not be a team taking anything for granted. mTw will be playing their first match on Friday this week and HLTV.org will be bringing you coverage in all forms.

Well, you would sort of be right, but when you are that close to an existing phrase such as Down-to-earth you cant just make up your own without people being in doubt weather you actually know the correct phase or is trying your luck with a direct translation.

Yes, we can. But you know, in Poland it's like "God, honour, motherland/coutry" :P But however it doesn't look different in other countries. Danes cheer for danish teams, Swedes for the swedish ones etc. For example here at HLTV.org mTw has always this priority ;d

Cs i random and you can't say with 100% of confidence that there is better team than MYM or MYM is the best. Everyone can win and we (Poles) are supporting MYM - that's all =] They need our support after changing their lineup :)

well try to be realistic and seriously mym has played like only top10 team not top3 like the last few years and they only played reallyreally good in this years ESWC tbh and maybe dubai untill the final(they lost to ats in there ,but lets face it theres alot of potenial going on with ats atm and it was a seperate thing not the tornumate, but that shows that wasnt as solid as it looked i guess) and no that isnt my opion its kinda the fact. hoping for mtw/mouz v lanklan final but prolly will end up who is but where in brackets and what system is used, the momentum and the retarded map luck.(LB or not or the bo1/bo3 in playoffs-if anyone knows please comment lol)

Thank you! You're right zonic is really a nice guy! It's not always easy to get a hold of people. Managers usually help set up the interviews if the players don't want to. Some people are just plain not interested. As others are glad to be interviewed! It really variates =)
