Argentina upset Denmark at TWC

Argentina managed another amazing upset in the semi-final of the The World Championships 2016, beating Denmark 2-1 (16-11 on Cache, 7-16 on Train, 16-14 on Cobblestone).

The fan favorites of TWC 2016, Argentina, got up on the stage to start the second semi-final against one of the favorites of the tournament - Denmark.

The South Americans previously shocked Sweden, while the Danes defeated Singapore to get to this stage of the tournament.

The match started off on Cache and once again shown the grit of Team Argentina who were down 10-5 in the first half but managed to come back to win it 16-11.

Argentina managed another crazy upset, this time over Denmark

Argentina struggled on their opponents pick once again as Denmark racked up 10 rounds as Terrorists, allowing them to swiftly close out the map 16-7.

On Cobblestone, the last map of the series, Argentina started off with a 4-0 lead, but then went on a bad streak - losing an eco round and then the subsequent two by running out of time as Terrorists.

After that, Denmark went on a run of 11 straight rounds to end the half 11-4. After all the missed chances, everything seemed over for Argentina, but they managed to slowly claw back as Counter-Terrorists and ultimately won the decider 16-14.

They're still tier 400 players tho, the tier2 should've won every single scenario. They have some skill around there to play at a medium level but they won't be able to make it big on Argentina, here no one gives a living fuck about e-sports, if you are more in videogames than on football then you're a loser...

If you grab some of the best out of Heroic+Dignitas+Astralis you could make a top tier team capable of winning majors out of Danish talent. The thing is that they won't so yeah.

ty bro, people don't understand if Argentina managed to finals is because they are not that bad. You can be lucky 1 round, 2 rounds, but not 16 rounds, they defeated Sweden, and Denmark that's not luck. Argentina is totally amateur in csgo, they don't have any proffesional team you know? they all studing in College, work for living, and then play during free time.

Yes, i know that is hard cuz our scenario don't have the same view yet (even with some brazilian teams doing a good job in CS, LOL...) but you guys need to find someone who believe in yourselves like Fallen did and try. Jony Boy is a great player, I don't know if he has this leadership, but unfortunately, it's the only way...Fallen did a amazingly great first step, today there is the ESL Brazilian League because of him imo, but we need more steps to consolidate SA as an important e-sports region.

Argentina has been super entertaining to watch. The roster in Denmark is stacked compared to every other country. It blows my mind that players with like no experience in the international scene can beat a lineup like that. These guys are putting their heart into this tourney. People should stop downplaying what they've accomplished here. The wins they are pulling off are insane

Hello, yeah, our players really put their heart and soul into this tourney, they quit they job and families to dedicate full time to this and yeah, we cant believe it. Hopefully an organisation grabs our players and gives them a gaming house in north america or europe, but that is too much to ask for so we just enjoy the moment :P. Go argentina!

[Posted on another forum thread, but thought it would be more appropriate here if anyone was interested - I am not trying to SPAM, just didn't want my thoughts to be lost in a small thread] This is a team made up of players from a very poor country where passion and attitude is EVERYTHING. This is why this country has BRED stars. Look at messi. He came from nothing but his passion for football is what rose him to the top. He didn't have any special schools to attend for soccer, or training practice. No, he taught himself and would play on the streets because he LOVED the game and nothing would stop him from achieveing great heights. The same with CSGO, these players are from no name teams. Teams that compete in local, small tournies against far lesser skilled competition and have almost ZERO chance of breaking out into the top and getting exposure. An identical situation with the guys from SK - they had no chance until flusha donated money for them to fly to Poland and try to qualify for Katowice. Say whatever you want about flusha - what he did was beautiful and allowed a new powerhouse to enter the CS scene. Without it, we would likely never have known about the hidden talent in Brazil. Argentina has a few very talented players obviously (I only heard about JonY BoY) but this team has such potential). They had an opportunity to qualify for TWC and the qualifer was against Brazil (and since the SK/IMT guys were busy with other tournaments, and most likely did not care about this tourny), the Brazilian team was filled with much much weaker competition. This allowed Argentina to qualify and get exposed on a big stage, and actually have the opportunity to play against big names such as gla1ve, valde, k1oshima, XANTARES, Twistzz, Delpan, slap, Snappi. (And yes, these are not the top tier 1 opponents by ANY MEANS, but these are all tier 2 names, and VERY, VERY skilled aimers - much more than those from Argentina, and South America - since SK/IMT are in NA). This put them on a stage to the entire world and let them know that there was another voice in the South America, a voice crying out from Andes: ARGENTINA. There is a reason that Straka said the teams of all the Argentinian players were all put on pause for this event: because this is the largest tournament that any of them were attending and the most opportunity for exposure and challenge. I always love to see new scenes emerging into Counter-Strike and the diversity is really what keeps the game alive. And yes, I know I will get a lot of hate replies for this comment, because it passes the barrier of focus for many users on this forum, but at the end of the day (sparing the racism, homophobia, xenophobia, hate, etc. all found on this forum) we all have a passion for the CS scene and can appreciate a good match! So anyways - Good job Argentina and gl in the finals!

Yes, in retrospect you are correct, but they obviously don't have the luxuries that certain teams in NA do (with all of the investors such as Rick Fox and Shaq having their own mediocre eSports teams), and the conditions of a lot of rich EU countries including Denmark and France. My point was it's their passion that keeps them in contention with the best and their dedication to improve is stunning. Since they aren't gifted anything they are very mentally strong and always have the ideology to be the best. Most teams just pugged this event, but Argentina really did study other teams as JonY said in his interview and that is what was the difference in these close 16-14 and OT matches. Their determination and will.

Well done Argentina! GL in the final, hope (some of) the players will have a similar career evolvement as some Brazilian teams had the last year(s).
