DH Winter qualifiers announced

DreamHack has announced details about the qualifying process for the upcoming Winter event.

The 2016 DreamHack ZOWIE Open season will come to a close next month at the prestigious Winter event, which will be held from November 24-27 at the Elmia Exhibition and Convention Centre, in Jönköping.

Eight Counter-Strike teams will compete for their share of a $100,000 prize pool, with six of them being directly invited by DreamHack. Alongside the invitees, there will be two teams determined by a European qualifier hosted by ESEA on October 15-16.

Virtus.pro won the latest DreamHack ZOWIE Open tournament

The qualifier will consist of two stages, with the first being an open 512-team cup, which will determine the eight teams who will advance to the closed best-of-three bracket, where they will be joined by eight invited sides, to be revealed towards the end of the week.

Teams can sign up for the Open qualifier by heading over to ESEA's website. The schedule for the Closed qualifier is as follows:

  • 12:00 - Round of 16
  • 15:00 - Quarter-finals
  • 18:00 - Semi-finals

The only one who sould care about the price is the contenders. Why do you care what the price is. Your not gonna see any of it?

Bcz its more exciting to watch tournaments with big prize pool. The bigger reward the harder human beings try to get it. For such iconic event as DH winter 100k is a joke.

Because bigger prize pools mean more/better teams competing obviously. For 100k you wont be able to get all the best teams competing at their highest level to try and win.

Dreamhack has so many events per year that's why it's 100k. Sltv has 2 events per year hence 300k. ESL and dreamhack owned by same company.

Both owned by same company mate. DH has smaller events in remote regions. ESL has events in well known big places. Both companies have different agendas,ESL concentrates more on the top teams,DH concentrates on giving subtop teams a bigger chance.

Should be a major. Don't know why Valve or DH stopped this cooperation, it was great to have 3 majors per year... Two is not enough.
