SZPERO: "Step by step"
We caught up with Grzegorz "SZPERO" Dziamałek at ESWC 2016 after Kinguin advanced to the playoffs.
Kinguin won Group E in Paris after victories over Sector One (16-2) and Preparation (25-21). Then we chatted with Grzegorz "SZPERO" Dziamałek about his team's performance at ESWC 2016.
You came in fourth at the WESG EU&CIS Regional Finals and qualified for the Global Finals. How was that tournament?
Overall, the tournament was pretty good. We had good conditions and guys from StarLadder which organized that event did a pretty good job. We’re really looking forward to the Global Finals in China but we don't know the specific date and venue for the event. We think we'll prepare for that event by working on new tactics.
How did you prepare for ESWC 2016? Did you have a bootcamp prior to the event?
We didn't have a lot of time to prepare specifically for this event because we were in Hong Kong for the ZOTAC World Cup. We watched some demos of Preparation before we came here but we didn't really expect to play Dust2.

SZPERO's team move on
Your first game here against Sector One was quite comfortable. How do you approach the matches against virtually unknown teams?
We didn't really prepare for the first game because we knew it wasn't going to be that challenging as they're quite a new team. We just focused on the winners' match against Preparation.
That match against Preparation went to triple overtime and both teams really wanted the win. What are your thoughts about it?
We started the game well but afterwards we kind of lost our focus during the second part. We lost more than ten rounds in a row but we managed to push the match to overtime. In overtime, we just had to counter their playstyle and knew we could get the win.
What is your goal here at ESWC 2016?
We just want to go as far as we can. We would love to play on the big stage and I hope we're going to do that. Of course we're looking to win but we changed our approach and take it step by step. We just think about the next game.
Anything you want to add?
We'd like to thank to all the fans who support us and to everyone who doesn't. Thank you all.
