C9 over OpTic for a spot in the semis

The first round of the pistol started out as a warning of things to come, with OpTic trying a long A fake while the bomb waited outside B. Meanwhile, Timothy "⁠autimatic⁠" Ta pushed mid brilliantly cutting the rotation in half and breaking the play, which would go to Cloud9.

After winning the two anti-ecos, Cloud9 pushed upper dropping two, while Tyler "⁠Skadoodle⁠" Latham finished off the last three on short with a scout. Despite two entries on the sixth round (the second gun round) by Skadoodle with the AWP, Oscar "⁠mixwell⁠" Cañellas and Peter "⁠stanislaw⁠" Jarguz managed to put "⁠⁠" on the board with two frags each from long and short respectively.

The rounds then went back and forth between the two, with Cloud9 entering some turbulent rounds economically, but a massive four kill round by Jake "⁠Stewie2K⁠" Yip—the only armed player on the team—with a saved AWP on long put Cloud9 back on track, allowing his team to claim a few more rounds and run away to 10 – 5 before changing sides.

Three USP-S kills by Tarik "⁠tarik⁠" Celik got OpTic the pistol round, followed by the necessary eco rounds. With 11 – 8 on the scoreboard, Keith "⁠NAF⁠" Markovic found himself on a 2 vs. 1 afterplant situation that he managed to clutch and defuse on the last second to keep OpTic in the running.

The rounds kept going back and forth between the two teams until finally Cloud9 called a timeout with 12 – 11 on the board. After that, Jordan "⁠n0thing⁠" Gilbert and his team managed to bag four of the last five rounds and running away with the map.

It looked like OpTic were going to be off to a flying start on the terrorist side of Cobblestone after winning the pistol round in an effective B push, but a forcebuy upset denied OpTic of the second round, as they sloppily took battles they shouldn’t have on several fronts throughout both bomb sites.

The team in green tried to claw their back into the game, winning a second round, but Cloud9 repeatedly denied OpTic’s attempts, whose scrambles on the attacking side were not paying dividends as the defense kept tearing them apart.

An absolutely mad retake by Stewie2K and autimatic against the whole OpTic squad shattered the American-Canadian-Spanish team’s spirits, and ended giving up a measly two rounds in the whole first half.

The second half pistol went to Cloud9, taking the next two rounds and earning a spot in the semifinals, where they will meet MOUZ.
