Liquid and IMT win first matches

The two first matches of IEM Oakland have come to an end, with Liquid beating Natus Vincere on Nuke by an ample margin, 16-6, while Immortals edged TyLoo out in overtime on Mirage, 19-17.

Liquid kicked IEM Oakland off taking the first round on Nuke after an A execute, taking the site from garage and mini. A 3-0 was on the scoreboard going into the first gun round. Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács and Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev’s AWP antics in outer on the sixth round paid dividends, as the CIS side got themselves on the board after two entries from the AWPers.

Knowing those two AWPs would be in play, Liquid tried a rush on the A site, but swiftly stopped by the CT side. Liquid were relentless, though, and went on to dominate the early rounds and racking up points in the scoreboard while keeping Natus Vincere against the ropes economically. It seemed Natus Vincere were going to be able to get a third round late in the half, but a 2vs1 clutch by Spencer "Hiko" Martin against Egor "flamie" Vasilyev and Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev kept Liquid going full speed.

Hiko showing his superstar power

The must-win pistol round for Natus Vincere did indeed go the CIS team’s way, as they were able to bullhead their way into the A site and neutralize Nick "nitr0" Cannella on his 2vs1 clutch attempt. Natus Vincere managed to get in three rounds before trading with Liquid who then shut the CIS side down to take the first map of the tournament.

The match on the B stream featured Immortals and TYLOO. The match taking place on Mirage started started out well for the Chinese team, who were able to win the first round, but were immediately countered by Immortals, who went on a five round winning streak. Immortals held on to the lead, but TYLOO woke up and started winning some rounds, trying to force themselves back into the match. Immortals took the first half on the shoulders of João "felps" Vasconcellos and Ricardo "boltz" Prass, 10-5, before heading into the CT side.

TYLOO overwhelmed Immortals with a mid to window and connector rush, taking over the A site and successfully defending their plant. The first gun round was Immortals’ chance to start running away with it, but with a solid team effort by TYLOO taking over the A site, the Chinese team were able to get within one, 10-9. With HaoWen "somebody" Xu opening up the next two rounds for his team, TYLOO kept exploiting the A site to take the lead for the first time since the first pistol round, 11-10.

boltz shut TyLoo down

Immortals tried to take a timeout when down 13-10, and it paid dividends as they were able to put the 11th up on the board after losing the eco, and followed it up with a 12th to get within two of TYLOO. With boltz still going hard late in the game and the rest of his team putting up a wall, TYLOO started running out of ideas and giving up rounds. With 14-14 on the board, though, TYLOO finally found an opening into the B site when YuLun "Summer" Cai found the entry frag on Lucas "steel" Lopes and Ke "captainMo" Liu followed it up on felps forcing the other three Immortals players into a save. Playing for the tie, Immortals cleanly took out their opposition pushing down mid and on A ramp.

Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles opened the fragging on the overtime, taking out somebody on A ramp. Following that action was his twin brother’s contribution, taking down Summer and making it 5vs3 and smooth sailing towards the first round of OT. The second round went to 2vs2 afterplant situation which YuanZhang "Attacker" Sheng took into his own hands, finishing boltz and LUCAS1 to keep the game even. Finally Immortals held their own, with another clean sweep of TYLOO to take the lead into the T side.

TYLOO took the first round defending, evening the match back up despite a great lurk by felps. Immortals then went on to win the last two rounds with boltz and steel getting nine frags in the last two rounds of the map to close it out.

liquid thouroghly destroyed na'vi. start t side on nuke? destroy your opponent in that manner? HIKO ARE YOU KIDDING ME? one of his best perdformances so far, vintage hiko. destroyed edward on so many occasions. that was probably one of his worst performances in retrospect. Liquid deserved their win %100 percent. -pimp +s1mple ^v^ why would na'vi play nuke anyways, even tho i despise thorin as a person with words taht he would use, they historically vetoed against it. if they didnt win the t side pistols this would be considered a stomp. immortals almost choked so that was mehh. also more DaZeD pls.

SK doesn't need any roster change. Learn with Virtus.Pro. Just because a player stats is better than other doesn't mean he would do better in another team

yeah, maybe, but if they would do a roster change, they would need to practice a lot of strats they already used... and before the major. We saw how it was with showtime and the diference would be just that Boltz would get more kills or so. TeamPLay is actualy much harder
