FaZe secure semi, C9 stay alive at IEM

FaZe kept a clean record in the group stage by beating SK Gaming (16-11 on Nuke) while Cloud9 defeated mousesports (16-10 on Cobblestone), leaving them with chance to advance in Oakland.

FaZe's CT side pistol round win was quickly turned around as Marcelo "coldzera" David's deagle once again proved to be too much to handle. However, the reigning major champions were upset with pistols soon after as Håvard "rain" Nygaard picked off two over the yards smokes.

FaZe's CT side pistol round win was quickly turned around as coldzera's deagle once again proved to be too much to handle. However, the reigning major champions were upset with pistols soon after as rain picked off two over the yards smokes.

That round swung the momentum in favor of European sidee—rain was bullying SK in yard, picking up at least one kill whenever the Brazilians tried to cross to secret while Aleksi "allu" Jalli was changing up his positions and consistently getting AWP kills, thinning out SK's numbers.

rain brutalized SK in the outside area of Nuke

At 10-2, Epitacio "TACO" de Melo managed to ace FaZe in a 1v4 situation to give his team another round before the half ended with a 12-3 scoreline.

SK took the first three rounds after the swap and put a solid fight on the CT side, but FaZe closed out the map in the end, with a crisp A site execute that made it 14-6 proving crucial in FaZe's map win.

In the end it was 16-11 as FaZe shocked pretty much everyone to make it 4-0 in group B, securing the first spot in the group with a match to play against the already eliminated MOUZ in hand.

MOUZ continued their struggles at IEM Oakland in their match against Cloud9 as they started the CT side of Cobblestone 5-0 down. The European side managed to recover in the second half of the first half, with the trio of Chris "chrisJ" de Jong, Christian "loWel" Garcia Antoran and Nikola "NiKo" Kovač doing work for "" .

MOUZ took the momentum into the second half, shortly taking the lead before Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham stole it back with a quad-kill on B that made it 11-10. That round proved to be the momentum shift, as following that round Cloud9 easily closed out the map 16-10.

FaZe just playing stunning didn't expect such performance from them and mouz doing very bad their solution is simple getting real ingame leader. Good luck FaZe at semi finals.

I think the format is something about wins and how it adds up points or something. I don't remember how it actually works but it's confusing af.

They can end up in a three-way tie with SK and Heroic if SK loses to NiP and C9 beats Heroic. If that happens, an MR3 tie-breaker will be played.

Milan Švejda ‏@StrikerHLTVorg_ Reminder: in the 3way tiebreakers each team bans 2 maps, remaining map is played in mr3 between the three teams

That's BO3, not MR3. MR3 is the overtime format of 3 rounds per half.

3 teams ban 2 maps = 1 map left Every team plays against the other two teams on that map, but not for a full game (MR15) but just for an "overtime game" (MR3). The best team out of the three will clinch the remaining spot and move on. Maybe not 100% like this, but more or less correct.
