flusha: "Dealing with insecurities"

GODSENT defeated G2 in the last match of the day with a 16-11 scoreline on Overpass. Before the teams and the staff left the ELEAGUE studio, we had a short conversation with Robin "flusha" Rönnquist to hear how his team stands at the moment.

The European Minor winners GODSENT had a good game against G2 in their first match of the ELEAGUE Major Main Qualifier, defeating the French team thanks to strong performances by Robin "flusha" Rönnquist and Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson.

To get a glimpse of the team spirit following the win, we conducted a quick interview with the three-times Major winner - flusha.

You weren't having great results online, you didn't qualify for ECS and didn't make it to ESL Pro League - what was the emotional state of the team coming here?

We are dealing with a lot of insecurities, we don't really trust each other every game, some games if we do some mistakes players might start doubting each other. Before this qualifier we tried to play individually and not so much together. We had our high skill up and maybe not the insecurities we had.

Before the Qualifier you said you were going to play 60h per week or something, did you hold up to your promise?

Since we traveled here four days before today I couldn't really, but maybe 3-4 days I played 10-12 hours.

You started the match against G2 and it looked OK in the first half, but they started getting back - what was the adaptation they made later in the T half?

I guess they played more structured and slow standard. We didn't really have a lot of control on the map so we didn't get the information about what they did. The rounds we got we won by outskilling them instead of using information and structure.

Tell me a bit about that pistol round on the T side, it seemed like an elaborate strat...?

Actually we were supposed to go one time around, but there was a lot of talking on teamspeak so we just fucked it up.

It seemed like a pretty easy match for you, did you expect it to go that way?

Honestly we practiced against G2 a lot before knowing the matchup. On Overpass we played like 8-10 practice matches - we won some times, they won some times. So we knew how they played it but we didn't expect it to go so easy - and it wasn't that easy really.

According to flusha, GODSENT won against G2 due to individual plays

How are you feeling after the win and going on in the tournament?

We… I don't know what to say. We are trying to get our confidence up and we will see with the match up.

GODSENT probably will make it to the major...very small chance if they make it to even get out of groups unless someone 30 bombs every game and pronax goes positive :>

hahah he's so right, recognizing that they aren't playing tactical at all despite having pronax IGL. They did sort of just win off of individual aim/skill so it's kinda a dumb win. still cheering for flusha and flusha only though

Yeah that's the big takeaway from this article. Why is a pronax squad relying on individual skill? Something is way off. Cant believe you have the only comment mentioning this.

It's quite odd than on the team lead by one of the best IGLs on CSGO history there is so much caos and lack of confidence on your teammates. Playing on Godsent must be a struggle at times.

Ok, hadn't seen that. So flusha (the apprentice) have become master himself, and sometimes argues with his former master and teacher (Pronax)

Godsents problem is that flusha is their only tier1 player. Lekr0 has lots of potential but he lacks experience. znajder and pronax aren't good enough individually and strats of pronax are outdated and too predictable. JW is the biggest problem in the team. It's like znajder and pronax at least know that they aren't top tier players and act accordingly. JW keeps still making these crazy plays he can't back up skillwise.

Very well said. I think they should cut JW and pronax. Pronax really isn't that good of an IGL. Just farm Epsilon. Rez certainly has potential as well as draken.

risky move...that could end up a failure due to those players with lack of top talent experience or the new players would offer skill and freshness in the team and turn it around
2016-12-16 15:41

what JW doesn't seem to understand is that he's a good awper when he's not doing those high-risk high-reward plays that almost never work nowadays. if he would just adapt to the fact that 2014-style JW awping doesn't work anymore he's such a great asset to the team. he could still play an agressive style, just not stupid agression like now

JW himself has said that if he just learned to hold and play angles with the awp, he could be the best AWPer in the world. Let that sink in for a second. An awper (previously one of the best), that doesn't know/doesn't feel comfortable with the basics of the awp. I agree with you, he needs to wake up and realize that he's not in 2014 anymore. To a certain extent he needs to reinvent himself as a player, because what he's doing now aint working out. That, or practice a lot more

I don't think he necessarily just need to hold angles, passive awping isn't always the best. we still see a lot of awpers that are good at passively holding angles struggling in this meta I think he could be agressive from time to time since that is still his strength, he just needs to learn the difference between a smart agressive play and a dumb agressive play. it's also an issue of teamplay, if he goes agressive he should always have backup and possiblity for re-frag however, I don't feel like JW is the issue for Godsent. imo his rifling and pistol is as good or even better than Znajder for example

not even sure why flusha playing with pronax in a first place when they fought over IGL back then in fnatic. they shouldnt even play together now. Flusha must learn on how to listen to pronax no matter what the situation is whether it's winning or losing. otherwise this team is going no where on Atlanta major. Good luck.
