stanislaw: Caught up on things NiP do

OpTic went 2-1 up in Atlanta by defeating Ninjas in Pyjamas, putting themselves one win away from the Major in January. To talk about their tournament so far, we caught up with Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz.

The North American side started the tournament with a comfortable win over TYLOO, lost the following match against FaZe and then bounced back against Ninjas in Pyjamas.

Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz, the team's in-game leader, talked to us about the games they played so far, preparing for Ninjas in Pyjamas and how the match against the Swedes went.

Starting with the TyLoo match, it seemed pretty straightforward for you, how were you feeling throughout that match?
Against TyLoo we obviously didn't know what to expect from them because they are from China and there is barely any demos available and all that. We just go into the game with our regular mindset, playing our game. It was sloppier than I thought it would be, both teams eco'd each other, I don't even know how many times. I think the game was won by mistakes, not by skill. It was a sloppy game.
Moving on to FaZe, the second game - you played them the last two weekends and won both times. How were was it heading into that match, knowing it's Overpass again, the map you played  the last two times you met?
We were pretty confident because we beat them the last two times we met on Overpass before, so we are just going to continue to play our game. But you could see that they did their homework a lot more than us. We kind of expect teams to start anti-stratting us now, but we didn't expect them to change their playstyle that much. I don't think we prepared as much as we should've, karrigan had an insane game, really good play from him - it was a lot more difficult than we thought.
You were 1-1 and drew NiP. An unlucky draw it seems, getting them out of all the available teams?
Yeah, they are definitely the hardest team to draw out of the remaining teams. We haven't played them in a while, so the thing I said about TyLoo - we don't really know what to expect. Since we did the veto like an hour before the match we had some time to go into the practice room and prepare. We loaded their demo when they faced HellRaisers on Overpass - I think that was really good for us because we caught up on things that they do.
Can you tell me something you caught up on, did you exploit any of those things?
At the beginning, they were doing the things we were kinda expecting but we weren't ready for. We started the match kind of cold, they started 6-3, 6-4 but we finished the half really strong. One of the things they did was take control of short B on their T side. I think one round we tryed to boost doors and caught them off guard. I don't think we ever got a kill doing it but it messes with their head. We were a lot more prepared and in the end we had a really good half after a bad start.
Your T side pistol was pretty clean, you had a good execute. Was that something you thought would work against them or just one of your things?
We knew their pistol, but it's hard to anti-strat the pistol round. We saw in the demo what they do in their pistols but we didn't base our strat on that. We talked before the match and made the strat pretty quickly, it's a basic execute and it just worked perfectly.
Looking at NiP's last match against HellRaisers and this one against you, they have been having some untypical errors and have been losing a lot of clutches. Do you feel like something is off in their game, especially with the 2v5 in the end that RUSH and mixwell won?
That was a miracle round from us. I don't feel that they were off at all. We just fixed our mistakes from the FaZe match and we prepared a lot more. Maybe they just didn't expect us to play this way.
