DreamHack Leipzig, The first of the nine DreamHack Open stops in 2017, have announced the competing teams as well their group drawing. The event will take place from January 13th-15th, sporting a $100,000 prize pool.

With a tight schedule around the turn of the year there was no time for a qualifying process, so with six invited teams there was to be given out two wild card spots, which went to the recently assembled squads in the form of Mikail "⁠Maikelele⁠" Bill's qwerty and Fatih "⁠gob b⁠" Dayik's BIG.

The groups are as follows:

At the same time, Dreamhack has announced the schedule for the tournament, which can be seen below:

The distribution of the prize pool is as follows:

1. $50,000
2. $20,000

No not to the small events, the dreamhack masters Las Vegas is probably gonna be quite stacked though. But I'd say that is the purpose of how their circuit is run now. Plenty of small events for lesser teams/some local teams and a few big tourneys for the big ones.

DH has 2 types of events,normal ones for small teams,masters for bigger teams. Big teams wont attend this even if no major. Also WESG at same time

maybe they did but since they are so bad/unknown they couldn't get one. I mean, they didn't get to the minor or to any international LAN tournament since they got together.

Yeah but since they've been so irrelevent for the time they've been together i don't get why they would get in, meanwhile the teams invited either got in because of their org, or because of their fanbase or the storyline they could create : qwerty and BIG lan debut, LDLC possibly getting into ESLPL, fnatic academy being on the rise for few month already. Meanwhile norse is nowhere being interesting for the T3/T2 scene.

No shit.. but they are all young. I think they will be big in the future, we have a lot of young talent overhere. Norse haven't won shit compared to Fnatic AC, only a couple of Norwegian lans.

they dont have any relevant players. zeves sucks, centryz has been off the radar for years now feels like and outside of norway hardly anyone knows any of the others. the other teams there at least have names everyone knows or teams that have some achievements.
