Two teams to IEM closed EU qual.

The first open European qualifier has come to an end as the first two teams has been decided for the closed qualifier, which will be held on February 4-5.

From January 16-17 the first open European qualifier for Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2017 was held, which included teams like PENTA, GODSENT, ALTERNATE aTTaX, Vexed and HEROIC. Only two spots were up for grabs.

The teams were knocked out one by one and in the end we were left with the semi-finals to decide, which two teams would move on to the closed qualifier.

JW and flusha are ready for the closed qualifier.

In the first semifinal GODSENT faced the newly formed MK with Emiliyan "⁠spyleadeR⁠" Dimitrov and Nikolay "⁠nkl⁠" Krastev in the lineup. The two first maps got very close (Dust2 16-11, Mirage 14-16), so Overpass was going to decide the winner. GODSENT totally smashed MK with the score 16-1, and the Swedes are now ready for the closed qualifier.

The other semifinal was played between HEROIC and Outlaws. It started out well for the Bulgarians as they won the first map, but HEROIC immediately struck back to win Nuke 16-5. The decider was Train, and Outlaws were up 12-3, but the Danes made an excellent comeback to win the map.

GODSENT and HEROIC are thus the first two teams for the closed European qualifier. Two more teams will qualify on February 1-2, and the last four teams will be invited.
