DHS with $8,4k BYOC tournament

The organizers of DreamHack Summer have now announced the BYOC tournament, which will hand out a total of $8,400.

Back in 1994 DreamHack was founded in a small cafeteria with 40 people attending the first event. Today, it has grown to become the largest digital festival in the world, where you can always count on two events per year, DreamHack Summer and Winter.

The organizers have now announced the prizepool for the DreamHack Summer 2017 BYOC tournament, which will hand out a total of $8,400.

The tournament starts on Saturday during the Summer event which will take place from June 17-20. As always, the location will be Elmia in Jönköping, Sweden.

Dreamhack Summer 2015

DreamHack Open Summer which will feature professional teams will also be a part of the event, handing out $100,000 in prizes.

If you plan to attend the BYOC tournament or just visit DreamHack Summer as a visitor, you can buy your ticket here.

buddy....there is none , even if we could have a lan where the first place gets at least 10.000$ that would be HUGE , i think 2 years ago there was a lan with like 500 dollars for the first place but it ended up being 500 dollars in pheripherals.

So many teams, had online qualifiers and then in the tournament was like 4 groups of 4 teams. Only the semi-finals and finals was LAN and a chilean team won it.

There has always been a BYOC tournament at DHS and DHW, if HLTV.org didn't report about it doesn't mean it didn't take place ;)

Would you say DH Winter and Summer still are "lanparties" first and foremost, or has it pivoted to being tournaments?

Still very much LAN, the festivals consist of many components where esports is surely a big piece of.

I think we forgot about them because of the big CS tournaments which DH host, since after SC2 I lost the view about small BYOC's in 2013-14. :)
