fnatic through to semis over Gambit

fnatic are through to the semi-finals at the ELEAGUE Major after defeating Gambit 2-1 (16-7 on Cache, 3-16 on Overpass and 16-7 on Dust2).

Cache was the first map of the series, and here fnatic got off to a blazing fast start, punishing Gambit on a force buy after losing the pistol round. The Swedes brought the scoreline to a 10-2 advantage before Gambit tightened up their defense and picked up the last three rounds of the half.

The second half began with Gambit taking the pistol round following a B execute, with Abay "HObbit" Khassenov getting three kills to his name. But just like before, fnatic fought back in the next round, thanks to three stunning Desert Eagle headshots.

fnatic remained in the driving seat and quickly reached map point, powered by in-form Simon "twist" Eliasson. Gambit still picked up a round with an A execute, but fnatic quickly locked down the map to take the lead in the series.

twist was the MVP of the series

Rustem "mou" Telepov opened the game up on Overpass with a quad kill in the pistol round, putting Gambit in the lead. After taking both anti-ecos, Gambit further extended their lead by taking control of the A site, with Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko taking three crucial frags.

Down 0-5, fnatic finally picked up their first round courtesy of a triple kill from Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson, but then they had to deal with a hard reset after shockingly wasting a 4on2 situation. Any round that fnatic took in the half was quickly countered with a round by Gambit, and so the Swedes were held off any economic development until the end of the half, which ended with a one-sided 12-3 scoreline in favour of the Kazakhstani side.

Things went from bad to worse for fnatic, who lost the pistol round on the Terrorist side. With the economic advantage and the momentum swinging in their favour, they would go on to win the next three rounds en route to a convincing 16-3 finish.

HObbit and mou were on fire on Overpass

It all came down to Dust2, where fnatic came out of the gate looking scary, storming to an 8-0 lead as Gambit struggled to keep up with the pace of their opponents. But then things finally started clicking for Gambit, who won six of the next seven rounds to end the half with a close 9-6 scoreline.

The second half was a complete blowout, with fnatic dropping just one round on the CT side before running out 16-7 victors on the map, a result that sees them move on to the last-four stage in Atlanta.

Grats to fnatic making it to semi finals once again. What a performance done by twist on cache and dust2, he surely took star player role over olof on both maps with this splendid performances. I'm feeling sorry for Zeus even thou "he didn't even have to call" on overpass still Gambit couldn't manage it yet they are same as Na`Vi with just gaining legends status. Whats making me curious, Why gambit banned mirage but not dust2, Na`Vi still picking mirage and yet they were considered one of best teams on mirage when Zeus was in game leader with them, I was expecting Zeus to save mirage but ban dust2 with Gambit too... Lets see if Astralis can take revenge of North over fnatic on semifinals and make it to major finals for a first time.

What I mean is they didn't practice at all for the major. The only reason they even reached semis is by playing against the easiest team to face.

Come on dude, they did practice. You really think a big organization like fnatic would allow them to just slack? VP had a pretty easy way aswell.. they only played against 1 legend team - Gambit.

Not a bad performance from Gambit, just need a couple more maps on their cbble/overpass level. Can't see fnatic going over Astralis, but the choke could still be real I suppose. :()
