MVP, 5POWER, TyLoo qualify for SLi S3

MVP Project, 5POWER and TyLoo managed to secure spots at the upcoming $300,000 SL i-League StarSeries LAN that will be held this April in Kiev.

The Asian SL i-League StarSeries Season 3 qualifiers have been held today, with teams battling in a best-of-three single elimination bracket.

XigN and MVP will return to Kiev

The first Asian team to qualify for SL i-League StarSeries Season 3 LAN finals was 5POWER who took down EDG before facing TYLOO, the team that held the title of the best squad in China for quite some time. However, Ke "captainMo" Liu and co. have not been on the same level since the roster change that saw YuLun "Summer" Cai leave the team, and we saw that in this match as well.

TYLOO opened the series with a win on Cobblestone, but couldn't win on Mirage or Cache as ZhiHai "QKA" Fu proved to be the main man for 5POWER as they defeated their Chinese rivals.

The Koreans of MVP Project started the qualifier with a 2-1 win over New4, but had an easy time against ViCi, another big Chinese name that has fallen off recently. MVP Project defeated the Chinese team them 2-0, 16-6 on Mirage and 16-10 on Cache. Most of the ViCi players struggled in the series, while it was the usual suspect Hyun-Pyo "XigN" Lee leading the scoreboard for MVP Project.

The third place decider was played to determine the final Asian team at SL i-League StarSeries Season 3, and it came down to a battle between ViCi and TYLOO—the two teams that used to be above and beyond the rest of the competition in Asia.

TYLOO started the series by destroying their opponents from the Terrorist side of Overpass, finishing the half 12-3 before closing out the map 16-4. TYLOO had a tougher task on their own map pick, Cobblestone, as ViCi put up a solid 7-8 first half, but HaoWen "somebody" Xu's team managed to close it out 16-13 in the end to get the last slot for SL i-League StarSeries Season 3.

The team list for SL i-League Starseries Season 3 is now as follows, with only five slots left to be filled:

Denmark Astralis Poland Virtus.pro Sweden Ninjas in Pyjamas Brazil SK
Kazakhstan Gambit Denmark North World Natus Vincere Europe FaZe
Korea MVP Project China 5POWER China TYLOO Other qualifier

And EU gets 3 as well, LUL to this event. Also no CIS qualifier with 1 spot for an event in Kiev, kek. Should be like this: 4 EU 2 NA 1 CIS 1 SEA & China. Much better. Maybe 3 spots NA, as we have IMM, C9 and TL, but then the event is in Kiev, they should have a "local qualifier".

they already invited all relevant CIS teams Navi and Gambit. No need for an extra CIS qualifier.

You could say the same about EPICENTER, but that didn't happen. I really feel the need for a local qualifier/invite when the event is in CIS, SEA & China, SA etc. I believe this stimulates team to compete and in some way encourage local teams. Guess it all has to do with sponsors, like #32 said
