Astralis beat Na`Vi; to IEM semis

Astralis are through to the last-four stage at IEM Katowice after moving past Natus Vincere on two maps (16-11 on Mirage and 16-2 on Nuke).

The series kicked off on Mirage, where Astralis came out the brighter by going aggressive in the pistol round, which they won without losing a single man. After giving up an eco round, Na`Vi fought back with a third-round buy, but their sloppy A push was punished by Nicolai "device" Reedtz, who got three kills to his name with a Desert Eagle.

Na`Vi pulled back a round after getting an early bomb plant in a 5v4 situation, and the followed it up with another around to equalise the score at 3-3. The CIS team appeared to have finally stabilised, but then Astralis regained control of the game and won several rounds in a row to force their opponents to call a tactical pause.

After the short break, Na`Vi's offence came to life once again, bringing the deficit to a minimum by winning a 2v5 situation, with the half ending in a close 8-7 scoreline in favour of the Danish team.

Astralis advance to the semi-finals in Katowice

The second half began with Astralis wreaking havoc in A after pushing from connector. The first full gun round went Na`Vi's way, but Astralis hit back right after as device picked up three kills to deny the CIS side the B retake. Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth then secured four kills after a desperate buy from Na`Vi, who saw Astralis eventually reach map point.

With Na`Vi's hopes hanging by a thread, Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács pulled off an incredible ace to keep his team in the game. Two rounds later, it was Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev's time to shine with the Big Green, winning the 11th round for Na`Vi.

The crowd was electric and seemingly fully behind Na`Vi, but Astralis did not let the pressure get to them and finally ended their opponents' resistance with an A execute, with device getting another triple kill.

The map that followed was Nuke, which saw Astralis take the pistol round in convincing fashion with an A split. Utilizing their momentum from the first map, the Danish team would jump out to a 7-0 lead as Na`Vi struggled to keep up with the pace set by their opponents.

Quarter-final exit could spell trouble for Na`Vi

After calling a timeout, Na`Vi finally pulled back a round, thanks to a trio of kills from GuardiaN, but Astralis quickly regained control of proceedings, closing out the half with a commanding 14-1 lead.

Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev still gave Na`Vi's fans some hope with a triple kill in the pistol round as Terrorists, but the CIS side could not build on that as they were caught off-guard by Astralis' force buy. That round showed the state of disarray Na`Vi had spiralled into, with Astralis hammering the final nail into their opponents' coffin in the following round.

Key Moment: Nicolai "device" Reedtz had many key rounds on Mirage, but one stood out in particular. With the score 11-8 in favor of Astralis, Na`Vi won the first gun round of the second half, but the Danes hit back right after thanks to the 21-year-old getting three quick kills from the B apartments with an AWP.

PotM: Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth was by far the best player on Mirage, where he had a major contribution in the rounds that Astralis won (24-3 score, 141.1 ADR and two 1vsX situations).

Sure Astralis are very gooooooooood, but I arent thinks thats Top1. Also this article took a while to write dudes? This game was done and done after going to half time break 14-1. XD

Just stop wasting your time on those sad fuckers. They're all salty over the fact that Danish CS can dominate everything even though we're around 7 % of the population of Germany, 0,7 % of Europe or 0,008 % of the Worlds population. Denmark also hard dominate western League, Fifa and (I'm not sure about this because I don't follow dota) Dota 2 Danish genes are simply superior to the rest. /Case closed

Then who is? Guess we'll have to see how SK and VP do.. OH WAIT. Astralis have been the best in the world before this tournament, even if by a close margin, now they'll only make the case clearer.

why have they beaten SK and VP in a bo3? Xyp9x is the guy who kept Astralis in this tournament. imagine him not winning so many lucky clutch rounds and Astralis would also be gone... in the groupstage.

That's not the deciding factor. Portugal is the champion of Europe in soccer, not because they beat many teams, but because they won the key matches. About Xyp carrying: yeah I agree with that. But that's the great thing about Astralis: they don't just have one star player carrying, a different one shows up every time. At the major, it was dev1ce until the final, where kyaerbye showed up, now it's xyp, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. That's the difference to VP: when snax didn't show up, there was absolutely noone there to carry on for him

he was the problem for a long time 2-3 games doesn't change the fact tbh. s1mple could grow as an awper much more and they could hire a new rifler for guardiaN. Also tbh Seized as an IGL is awful - there and here he still has some good plays! i mean he has a good aim , but before the zeus cut came, seized was such an impactful player! a guy you could reli on + he was a solid awper. I mean Edward just raped SK and had a solid tournament before again Astralis came (he had in the Major a good Tournament aswell then Astralis came). i mean the kills he had were impactful but he looked lost (especially on Nuke) the communication they were none. Edward under Zeus was such a good guy but under Seized and with S1mple idk. I mean he looked way better before the rifle update came in (besides few exceptions) but since idk to inconsistent and not reliable. i always cheer for edward and no matter what i won't stop to defend him but this could actually be his last tournament.

Navi have very bad coordination, seized bad IGL and he have not authority in team, Navi need change IGL. Navi have coach and analityc, but they did bad own work, Navi lost tactic very hard in nuke. Somebody think Edward is problem, but we did think so about Zeus and now 95% want comeback him in team. Navi got player with good aim but they lost wise game. Navi just panic in the end, they did stupid mistake, they still can not fight with emotion

It was nice seeing Astralis and NaVi having a back and forth-ish kind of match on Mirage, but it seems their map pool isn't working too well in their favour, for NaVi. NaVi being abysmal on Nuke is kinda a bad thing considering how Nuke isn't Astralis' top 5 maps (if i recall correctly, Cache = 5th best map, Nuke = 6th best map, based on what thorin said at the major when Astralis vs Fnatic). I would have rather seen NaVi float Inferno, since NaVi were sorta ok on old inferno. Here's to hoping Astralis prevail over Heroic, despite Heroic's upset potential, and being under RFRSH haha
