k0nfig: I really want to meet SK

North were up to a brilliant start against Astralis, finishing their Terrorist half 11-4 up. However, their Danish rivals tied the match and brought it into overtime before Mathias "⁠MSL⁠" Lauridsen's squad could finally close it out.

To find out more about their performance at the tournament so far and Emil "⁠Magisk⁠" Reif's individual form, we talked to Kristian "⁠k0nfig⁠" Wienecke. 

Let's start with yesterday's match against Immortals. You played against them at Katowice and lost 2-0, what was your thinking going into your match against the Brazilians here?

We changed our approach to the game, expecting a lot of them, but we knew that if we played our best in Katowice that we would've won against them there as well. So we just played a lot of deathmatch, played our own game, nothing special.

The bracket draw you against Astralis, your countrymen rivals, and it started well for you on the T side. What was working so well for you, was there anything MSL prepared?

On the T side MSL didn't prepare much, we were just looking at a few things so we know what they smoked and when they smoked, so we tried to press their smokes a lot so they don't have any grenades late round. It worked out pretty well, but we didn't prepare anything special.

After that they won the pistol round as T and shortly after you had a 5v2 situation while you were still on an eco. What went wrong there and in the rounds on the beginning of your CT side?

The think the thing that went wrong then was that we overpeeked on B, but we didn't do anything totally wrong, Astralis just hit their shots and they killed us. We haven't watched it yet, we just played the game and it's hard to remember things sometimes.

In the end Astralis managed to claw back from a giant deficit on the T side, do you think that that is normal now on Inferno? Did you have to do better on your CT side or is the map more T sided now than before?

I don't think it's T sided, I think it's the same as before, it's 50-50 depending on which side you are good on. We just changed some positions on Inferno and it's not been working so I think we are going to switch again, maybe when we practice here at the arena and figure out something new, because it is not working at the moment.

In the end it was Magisk who got multiple kills on the CT rounds you won in the end, is he just that good right now?

Emil's consistent level is one of the highest in CS:GO and he is one of the best players as well. He's just playing DM and if he is enjoying the game he's a really good player. If he's getting tilted it will be hard for him to get kills, but if he is on a good game, it's impossible to go B.

Can you tell me a bit about the AWPing and the cajunb situation, both you and magisk picked up the AWP over him in the end?

The AWPing situation is that I usually played arch before and I AWPed, because we wanted some stability on short and in pit. So our coach, when we called the tactical timeout, said that cajunb should give me the AWP and he should play pit, and he was ok with that. Because cajun wants to do the best thing for the team, so he changed. I think I am going to play arch on Inferno next time as well.

You are 2-0 up now, what are your hopes looking forward, anyone you want to meet?

I really want to meet SK, because we want to show that we can beat every team at the tournament and that we can be one of the best in the world. We are ranked 4th or 5th now and we want to be ranked 1st at the end of the year.
