dupreeh: Big kudos to [CLG]

After a long day at the Palace "Ukraine" at Kiev, Ukraine, we talked to Astralis' Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen who talked about their match against CLG and taking on Na`Vi tomorrow.

Astralis had another shaky game at the SL i-League StarSeries Season 3 Finals, closing out the series against CLG but only after two hard fought maps.

Astralis didn't enjoy playing in the booths at StarSeries today

In a short interview following the match. Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen talked about what caught them off guard and how they felt moving into the semi-finals.

Let's start with the first map against CLG, Cache, they had a good start, it was kinda rough for you in the beginning, talk me through the map a bit.

I think it was pretty clear CLG felt pretty comfortable on the map, the way they played in the beginning. We also made a lot of mistakes. Obviously, CLG was the easier opponent for us to get so people were playing a little bit loose, they caught us off guard and played a lot better than us in the beginning.

We took a timeout and discussed what we needed to do because everyone was like "come on, we need to focus"—because obviously, we have to win. They just felt comfortable, they got the double AWP going, and with them comfortable it was harder for us to figure out what to do. So big kudos to them, they played very well on Cache especially.

You won in the end, moving on to the second map, were you caught off by their Inferno in general? Especially the pistol round, they had a full stack on B - did you feel antistrated?

Yeah, only in the pistols—in both pistols they did exactly what they should to win against us. We got surprised that they were stacking like at least four guys on the B bombsite. They played well, we still got off to a really slow start on Inferno as well, we should've got a lot more CT rounds, we played pretty sloppily.

I guess everyone has run out of energy by now, it's so hot in those booths, it's so hard to concentrate, everyone is having headaches. Hopefully, tomorrow they fix the booths so it's not so warm in there because now you can't play in there and focus at the same time.

Tomorrow you play against Na`Vi, GuardiaN said that they are ready to play you. You had a sloppy tournament so far—how do you feel going into that match?

Usually, we have a really good match up against Na`Vi, they are playing pretty well this tournament and I think they are in one of their better forms that they have been lately. GuardiaN has started to hit his shots and in general, they are starting to play better as a team.

I think we have a really big advantage in the veto though, that's what I feel at least. I think it is going to be a good matchup tomorrow no matter what. It's going to be hard as always, we always play close with them. If we have better conditions tomorrow and we don't have to sit around the entire day, wait for the rest to play, the amount of time we have to go home and prepare, mentally as well, will result in a good matchup. Also, I think our playstyle fits well against Na`Vi's.

They were able to capitalize on their mistakes, though. That's something a lot of teams haven't been able to do.

Thats because CLG is not a super skilled team...if they do the same mistakes against NaVi they will get raped for sure

Dupreeh's pre matchup interviews are so much better than some of the other players like flusha/friberg who just brag and say stuff like it should be an easy 2-0 and what not and can't even play half as good as some of the much better players on their teams. This guy seems to be quite cool headed and despite being the best team in the world at the moment he's not acting like a cocky fuck.

there's nothing wrong with being cocky, in fact it adds to the story and hype of the game. players with a personality, even if it irritates me like flusha does is far better than just the average 'we played our game, we hit our shots, we made a few mistakes' which is the classic plastic interview you hear from a pro. dupreeh is hardly any different to that.

Being disrespectful towards opponents and saying things like it's going to be an easy 2-0 isn't something that I would want anyone from my team to say. I'd prefer you do the talking in the game and show it there. But I guess I'm not even close to their skill level so my opinion probably doesn't count for much. And I see your point of view as well. Maybe it's their way of hyping up the game or building the confidence of your own team mates. And yes, Dupreeh also said things in the interview which one might consider as arrogant/cocky (I think we have a really big advantage in the veto, we really have a good matchup against na'vi etc). But he did show a lot of respect towards them which was very evident and he said that they have close games (despite beating them 2 out of the last 3 recent maps 16-2, 16-4). But whatever we both may say, one thing is for sure, this is going to be a pretty good matchup. I can hardly wait :)
