C9 eliminate NiP in LA

Cloud9 defeated NiP in the first match of the day at cs_summit 2-0 (Inferno 16-10, Cache 16-14).

The lower-bracket semi-final series between Cloud9 and Ninjas in Pyjamas started on the former team's map pick, Inferno. Jordan "⁠n0thing⁠" Gilbert and co. kicked off with the Terrorist pistol round win, but Ninjas in Pyjamas managed to take the following round with a force buy and string three rounds together.

When the rifle rounds came around, we saw William "⁠draken⁠" Sundin getting an AWP entry on banana two rounds in a row, but the A site defense wasn't strong and Cloud9 slowly took over the lead by exploiting it.

In a key round towards the second part of the first half, Adam "⁠friberg⁠" Friberg picked up three kills on the B site defense, but the round still went the way of Cloud9 thanks to Jake "⁠Stewie2K⁠" Yip's great play in a 1v2 situation.

After finishing the half 6-9 down and losing the second pistol as well, Ninjas in Pyjamas were in dire straits, but started stringing rounds together and got the deficit down to only three rounds shortly. At 10-13, the Swedes were facing a low buy from Cloud9, but lack of coordination cost them the round and put Cloud9 in position to finish the map 16-10.

Cloud9 stay alive at cs_summit

Cloud9 started off Cache with another pistol round win, and ran away with the lead on the Terrorist side early on, with Timothy "⁠autimatic⁠" Ta's clutch on B playing a big part of it. Ninjas in Pyjamas managed to recover in the second part of the half with a mixed UMP, M4 and AWP buy, turning an 8-3 scoreline into a respectable 8-7 half.

In the second half of Cache, the Ninjas finally got a pistol round on the board thanks to a simple A site take, but failed in the following anti-eco as they got caught out in A main. After ecoing for a few rounds, Ninjas in Pyjamas tied the score at 12-12 off the back of methodical B site hits that proved hard to handle for the North American team.

From that point on rounds were traded back and forth, but the map and the series were edged out by Cloud9 in the end, as they denied draken's 1v4 clutch attempt and made it 16-14.

Sure this event GeT_RiGhT was 2nd behind Draken Before that he had a whopping 0.71 rating at Starseries Iem Katowice a whopping 0.8 rating At Las Vegas 0.89 rating This does not look like a star player to me, he needs to retire or he needs to leavel place for another star player and change role so NiP can be successfull

If you checked the full statistics of all of NiP overall, instead of your selective picking, you would understand. Most of the tournaments before then were showed good results, showing his consistency falls only recently due to the state of the team. You expect a star player to still be the star in a sinking ship? It's a team based game, you cannot do it when there's cancer in the team bringing your morale down. Check Xizt and Friberg's stats and then compare, they're both consistently negative and to call GTR a main liability is simply ignorant.

nop.. they have draken and this guy is gonna be insane if threat or forest (or xizt) teach him how to take calculated risk and not just go full yolo... mechanicly one of the most promising young players out there... movement, gamesense, aim (with awp) and coolness in some situations... he really needs to learn to rifle tho, its a big handicap if you become like JDM

Not really a big loss, because C9 can't replicate that pretty much anywhere. Current playstyle with swag etc.

That could be a way to look at it IF NiP got outplayed by c9's playstyle. NiP had the game and managed to throw away so many advantageous situations. A thing that have been doing for way 2 long.

While their era ended in 2013, GeT_RiGhT and F0rest and were still able to perform at star level until late 2015. After that, Gtr steadily become dogshit while f0rest is still able to perform really well from time to time. Xizt and Friberg hit rock bottom soon after 2014. The only time when NiP had slight potential was when Maikalele stood in for them in 2016. While Bill is by no means a superstar level player, he still managed to be a mix of solid and flashy AWPer that NiP desperately needed and, as a bonus, brought back the 2014 NiP where everyone was performing constantly well. While the period was too brief to decide whether Maikelele return to the team would have brought them to their former glory or not, I believe that that was the only proper move the org would have done if removing somebody from the set-in-stone-NiP-core is out of the question.
