Vega Squadron beat Tengri to win CIS Minor

The series kicked off on Train, Vega Squadron's map pick, and it was the Russians who came out the more energised team as they got out to a quick 5-1 lead on the Terrorist side, putting Tengri in danger of getting blown out.

The Kazakh team's defence then finally managed to get a bit of respite as they twice brought the deficit to just two rounds, but Vega Squadron kept the pressure on and took ten rounds into the second half.

Vega Squadron carried their momentum into the second half and won five rounds straight to hit match point. Tengri still strung three rounds together, but the Russian team would not let a comeback happen and won the following round to lock down the map, 16-8.

The map that followed was Inferno, which began with Tengri taking the pistol round and the corresponding anti-ecos to take a 3-0 lead. What followed was a very dominant period from Vega Squadron, who won six rounds in a row while losing just one player in the process.

Many believed that the home team had the game under control, but Tengri showed they still had some fight in them as they went on a six-round streak to secure a 9-6 lead.

Now playing on the Terrorist side, Vega Squadron won the opening five rounds of the half to take an 11-9 lead. Tengri still tried to fight back, but with the rounds that went their way being immediately countered by the Russians, there was nothing they could do to prevent the home team from taking the game, with Leonid "⁠chopper⁠" Vishnyakov closing out the map with an ace.
