EnVyUs advance to Minor playoffs

EnVyUs have avoided elimination from the Europe Minor Championship by beating Ballistix 2-0 in the decider match of Group A.

Cache was the opening map of this best-of-three series, picked by Ballistix. Statistically speaking, Cache isn't a favourable map for the Swedish line-up, but right from the start Alex "⁠Karus⁠" Saglamoglu and his team showed what they're capable of.

After Ballistix went straight for a 6-0 lead, Envy decided to call a time-out to find a way back into the game. The short break brought success for the French-speaking team, but it wasn't quite enough as Ballistix won the first half 8-7.

Seemingly happy about the sides being switched, Envy didn't hesitate a second as CT and kicked off the second half in a strong manner. Winning the pistol round gave Cédric "⁠RpK⁠" Guipouy's team a big advantage, and they didn't let the lead slip. Ballistix only managed to get two more rounds on the board, with Christophe "⁠SIXER⁠" Xia sealing the deal with an outstanding mid-hold, finding three frags.

SIXER helped EnVyUs to win Cache

Winning was now mandatory for Ballistix, but their start on Inferno was bumpy. Out of the first six rounds, Karus and his men were only able to obtain a single one. Showing a consistent performance, Envy secured themselves a 9-6 lead before switching to their less successful Counter-Terrorist side.

Ballistix then went on an incredible run, bringing the score from 6-9 to 14-9. It looked like the series was going to a third map, but the LAN-experienced Envy crawled back into the game and equalised the score with a last-gasp effort.

RPK had a strong performance on Inferno

The overtime did not break Envy's momentum as their semi-aggressive playstyle worked perfectly against the Swedish team. After just four rounds, it was all over as the French team walked away with a 19-15 victory.

What a hard day to watch EnVyUs, especially against Kinguin in the second map. Glad they managed to come back on top.

So fucking happy to see RpK coming closer and closer to his CSS level. Dude's a beast ! Props. I thought they were done for on overpass against Kinguin but xms really stepped up massively as well.

I think without xms crazy round on overpass envy would have been eliminated. What a sick play which completely turned the tables for that crucial map. Anyhow this win was pretty much expected :p

looks like someone is frustrated by Kinguin's defeat. They've won and that's the most important thing. EnVyUs had shown mediocre results since the new not-wanted roster, and had not even won 1 game in DH Austin and Tours. Although they've shown really surprising results in EPL finals they still have much to prove, so we should actually be satisfied by the team's performance by now. They can easily make it to the PGL quals now (3/4 chance). Go #boysinblue
