dignitas beat LDLC; to Minor playoffs

dignitas have secured the final spot in the Europe Minor Championship playoffs after defeating LDLC 2-1.

The series kicked off on Cache, where dignitas got off to a blazing hot start. A 1v3 clutch from Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad in the pistol round set dignitas up for an amazing run. The rounds LDLC edged out were few and far between, with the scoreline blooming to a 10-2 advantage for the Norwegians.

With little room for error, LDLC tightened up their defence and strung three rounds together thanks to back-to-back triple kills from Antoine "to1nou" Pirard.

Up 10-5, dignitas further added to their lead by taking the pistol round as CT after finding themselves with a two-man advantage early on. The Norwegians continued pressing on and eventually hit map point without dropping a round in the half. LDLC then finally managed to break through the CTs' setup, but dignitas rallied back in the next round to seal a 16-6 win.

fox led the way on Cache with 27 frags and a 1.94 Rating

Map two, Nuke, began with LDLC taking the pistol round following a trio of USP kills from Valentin "mistou" Balbastro. The European mixture followed that up with both anti-ecos and eventually carried that momentum into the gun rounds, jumping out to a 5-1 lead.

It was only then that dignitas finally put their foot down to hold LDLC back. The next four rounds went the Norwegians' way, forcing Kévin "Ex6TenZ" Droolans to call a tactical pause. The rest of the half was highly contested as the teams traded round for round, with dignitas taking a narrow 8-7 lead into the second half.

With a triple kill from Mathieu "Maniac" Quiquerez, LDLC took the pistol round as CT to restore parity at 8-8. But then they were taken aback by a force buy from dignitas, who took control of the game and secured a 13-8 lead. The game was now starting to slide away from LDLC, but Ex6TenZ breathed some life into his team with a timely tactical pause that allowed them to win eight of the following nine rounds en route to a 16-14 finish.

LDLC fought back valiantly but could not win the final map

It all came down to Inferno, a map that is known to be a very strong pick for dignitas. The Norwegian got off to a strong start on the Terrorist side, but LDLC picked up the pace and won the last six rounds of the half to take a 9-6 lead.

dignitas looked the livelier of the two sides during the early stages of the second half, winning six of the first eight rounds to take the lead at 12-11. Rounds then went back and forth, with dignitas eventually hitting match point. With a last-gasp effort, LDLC won the final two rounds of regulation to take the match to overtime, in which dignitas would pick up four rounds, running out 19-17 victors.

This last map was painful to watch. So many mistakes from both sides. I'd like to see Ex6TenZ taking over the reins in Dignitas tbh.

Only watched the Inferno map, but fox looked really good, especially in that 1v3 clutch. I didn't really expect Dignitas to face so many difficulties against LDLC, but I'm happy they managed to make the playoffs. BIG will be a hard task, though.
