Marcelo "coldzera" David is our Most Valuable Player (MVP) of DreamHack Open Summer for his role in SK Gaming's triumphant campaign.

The 22-year-old bested teammates Fernando "⁠fer⁠" Alvarenga and Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo, and fnatic trio of Dennis "⁠dennis⁠" Edman, Jesper "⁠JW⁠" Wecksell and Olof "⁠olofmeister⁠" Kajbjer for the honour.

Marcelo "⁠coldzera⁠" David had just two below-average Ratings in the ten games that he played in Jönköping. He excelled on Cobblestone against CLG (1.33 Rating), and in both map wins in the final against fnatic, which propelled him to top the series' scoreboard with a 1.24 Rating.

He was also SK's highest-rated player of the tournament at 1.19, ranking behind only CLG's Ricardo "⁠Rickeh⁠" Mulholland (1.25), Gambit's Rustem "⁠mou⁠" Telepov (1.23) and MOUZ' Tomáš "⁠oskar⁠" Šťastný (1.22).

This is coldzera's sixth MVP award of his career, the third since the start of the year after he also scooped the honour at IEM Sydney and cs_summit.

talking about someones peak has no impact on how long he played on that level. he did it for like up to 6 months maybe in Titan i would imagine where he carried Maniac, RpK tru so many matches and that was his peak (prior to awp nerf aswell) and that level of an individual was never reached again in my opinion. he literally destroyed whole teams alone. coldzera isnt doing that. he prolly got 3 top15 players in his team and everyone is playing on top level. coldzera is great and does his job aswell as some special clutches, but he isnt carrying fer, fallen & co like kennyS had to do. There is quite a skill difference.

i agree kennyS has highest peak out of anyone and in terms of longevity at the top it has to be shox and get_right (yes hes trash now) however cold is on the way to surpassing both of them and in a much more difficult scene because the competition is better

It always goes to a player on the winning team. Which I'm not sure is always entirely fair as sometimes a player in the losing team, or even who only makes semis, is so far ahead of the rest and could be argued to be the MVP but due to their team failing + bad luck doesn;t win the event. In this case you could almost argue that Rickeh deserves it, amazing play in pretty much every game, made CLG beat top tems and compete against others...

Yea, because niko is going to get a fucking MVP at a major while playing in botsports and exiting groupstage and kennys wasn't even close to his prime during those majors at the same time he was playing in the shitty envy team and bombed out groups and device was playing in the choke version of astralis who weren't even a contender for titles. I'm not gonna stop using first person to talk about SK. We're used to it in other sports because we feel like the players are representing all of us there. A football team playing a World Cup final is representing a whole country, and so is any team in any sport (or Esport) playing at international level. And I feel that the boys from SK are, in some sort, representing all of us when they play internationally, so using "we, us" when talking about SK is just a way to show that.
