RFRSH to comply with WESA's multi-team ownership rules

RFRSH Entertainment has agreed to comply with WESA's multi-team ownership regulations, the esports association has revealed.

Under these rules, which were introduced by WESA on March 14, different teams competing in the ESL Pro League - currently the only WESA sanctioned tournament - cannot be completely or partially owned or controlled by the same organisations.

RFRSH will not be able to have more than one team in the ESL Pro League

RFRSH Entertainment currently represents three Counter-Strike teams, Astralis, HEROIC and GODSENT, all of whom will compete in the next edition of the ESL Pro League.

"RFRSH shares the same vision as WESA and its Members to help further professionalize the esports industry,” RFRSH Entertainment CEO and Founder Nikolaj Nyholm said in a statement.

"We are taking the necessary steps to comply to WESA’s rules and regulations and are excited to work alongside WESA and all of its Members."

WESA added that, since RFRSH's multi-team ownership preceded the association's mandate, the Danish company has been given an 18-month grace period to come into compliance with the new set of rules.

The news comes just 24 hours after RFRSH announced a €7.2 million capital injection along with plans to host live events, with more details to be revealed later this year.

Good to see that esport are handled more seriously

Important? To whom? RFRSH is just stalling. Nothing has changed yet. Probably nothing will change. This is regurgitated lawyer bs. Meanwhile ESForce owns VP, SK and NaVi.

"no team is permitted to be completely or partially owned or controlled by a person or entity that owns or controls another esports team or organization participating at WESA sanctioned events." So you're telling me these teams never play against each other in a competition?

No, but as the interest in e-Sports grows, things need to be taken more seriously. You won't get bigger professional deals, if you don't handle your business professionally. There is now a permanent red mark against CS because of a previous conflict of interest with iBP. That now means, even if it's 99.99% unlikely that Astralis will throw, there will always be some doubt. That will be reflected on by other business partners.

Fuck this multi team ownership shit , 18 months grace period is ridiculous as well, basically they are letting them to farm some more cash for 18 months and then they can sell 2 teams for even more cash, stuff like this make me lose interest in the game.

...wut? First off, the multi team ownership has had ZERO impact so far on spectator experience (considering none of these teams have thrown), so how could this possibly ruin someones interest towards the game? Second, you can't just kick the two teams not being kept to the curb and just say good luck, hope you can support yourselves. I hope that was some weird bait and not actually such an ignorant post

How can you be so sure none of these teams have thrown ? Ofc the viewers gonna lose interest (i for sure do) because there is no way to prove they haven't thrown and/or will throw in the future for whatever reason, calling my post ignorant indicates me you just want to believe they are honest people with integrity and refuse to question them, you are either really young or naive.

LOL just because you are overly paranoid doesn't mean everyone else is naive. "Omg they might have thrown even though there is ZERO evidence of them throwing, can't watch now" point out one instance of them possibly throwing. if anyone is really young its you with that kind of terrible logic.

Simply put, it creates doubt in people's minds, that makes you lose interest, the only people that don't lose interest are those that are 100% confident on something (those people are dumb)nothing in life is 100%, everything changes, everything evolves(especially people).

Isn't ESForce different though? I thought that ESForce only owned Virtus Pro, and are just minority shareholders in SK Gaming and Natus Vincere?

But ESForce isn't same as RFRSH, ESForce just owns the organisations and farms money, nothing bad, while RFRSH has their logo on the player jerseys etc.

Well you're right and you're also wrong. Yes, RFRSH is a bit more open with the fact that they own Astralis, GODSENT, and Heroic, but I guess that doesn't mean that ESForce is any different. From what "Klarso7771" said, any partial ownership is a no-no for WESA, which means it's more than likely that ESForce will have to comply as well.

Honestly doesn't help the scene. I don't really think throwing is relevant anymore, you'd get caught. Heroic Astralis & Godsent are three teams I don't think anyone wants to hear get dropped. That would be sad to see players leave teams because of this.

It's not up to the teams...it doesn't matter if they don't want to get dropped but GODSENT and Heroic are going to get dropped because Astralis is better than both
