SK edge out PENTA at the PGL Major

SK picked up a hard fought victory over PENTA, defeating the European side 16-13 on Inferno to get their first victory in Krakow.

Fernando "⁠fer⁠" Alvarenga's 3K on the B site defense in the pistol round set up SK for a great start on the CT side of Inferno. PENTA were close to bouncing straight back in the following round with a force-buy before Epitacio "⁠TACO⁠" de Melo closed the round with a triple-kill on the A site.

Round no. 6 was another scary one for SK as PENTA were encroaching the B site after some favorable trades, but João "⁠felps⁠" Vasconcellos who had just rotated over from A, picked up a triple kill to save the round for the Brazilians.

Already 9-0 down, PENTA finally managed to put down the bomb in the 10th round, but SK showed their retake prowess and denied the Europeans their first round with a last second defuse.

Kevin "⁠HS⁠" Tarn's triple kill unlocked the A bombsite, getting his team their first round to make it 10-1. The European side managed to build on from that, as Kevin "⁠kRYSTAL⁠" Amend opened up on Marcelo "⁠coldzera⁠" David in the following round and PENTA secured a clean, five-man-alive round, and got to a five-round Terrorist half in the end.

coldzera had a massive game against PENTA

SK took over the B site in the pistol round and put the bomb down in a 5v3 situation, but PENTA managed to pull off an unlikely retake, spearheaded by kRYSTAL.

SK punished PENTA's overagression in an anti-eco round, getting their first Terrorist round on the board, but a failed B site execute tipped the scales back into PENTA's favor and the European side soon tied the score at 11-11.

The Brazilians bounced back from a 13-11 deficit SK finally managed to string rounds together, starting with a force buy win. coldzera was the main man for SK in the last couple of rounds, picking up multifrags to help his team close out the last rounds and get the 16-13 win.

very sad but respect for Penta

Penta played far beyond my expectations, I was expecting them to get like 6 rounds at best but they actually played great CS, hell, they would've probably won if it wasn't for coldzera doing coldzera things. I'd love to see them play in a BO3 vs someone like fnatic or C9, I'd like to see if they can mentain form over a full series against a top 10 team If they keep playing like this, then there's a good chance that we'll see them at the next major as well

Keep your heads up PENTA, you guys played really well, you came back vs SK(!) from 0-10 score from this moment you won 13 rounds, and SK only one, its actually really great from you guys, usually its SK who comebacks like crazy. You were close, but coldzera is coldzera this guy is a monster, GL tomorrow hope you will make it to quarters!
