Millenium ESL Pro Series V champions

Millenium are winners of the fifth ESL Pro Series as they defeated emuLate in the race to the title.

The finals of the fifth ESL Pro Series in France took place this weekend. Four Counter-Strike 1.6 teams had found their way to the playoffs, by finishing top four in the online season. Favourites were pointed out to be emuLate, while Millenium should be the underdogs and the challengers for the trophy.

As predicted, emuLate and Millenium both found their way to the overall final. The two losing teams in the semi-finals, dimension4 and Esport-Eu, should fight out who should grab third place. The newly formed Esport-Eu overcame dimension4 win a 16:7 win on inferno, which secured them 1.000€.

The grand final should be played in a best of three format. The favourites from emuLate started best, but Millenium were not much behind as emuLate won their T side 9:6. As CT, emuLate did not find the working defence against Millenium and a well playing Christophe "sixeR" Xia did not make it any easier for emuLate, where not even emuLate's Mickael "mSx" Cassisi could put a stop to it. This all lead to a 16:12 victory for Millenium on inferno.

Moving on, emuLate should now try their luck on nuke, which the two teams tied on, in the online season. Millenium continued their great play and emuLate did not at any point seem to be able to cope with the challengers. Christophe "sixeR" Xia once again led Millenium to a victory, as they secured a 16:6 win on nuke.

Clearly being underdogs, Millenium conquered ESL Pro Series season five. Man of the match goes to Christophe "sixeR" Xia, with more than 75% of the user vortes.

Final Standings

1. France Millenium – 5.500€
2. France emuLate – 2.000€
3. France Esport-Eu – 1.000€

The organizers choose not to have HLTV for the finals, but demos were recorded and we will get our hands on the as soon as possible. Both Millenium and emuLate will be on display at the Extreme Masters III Continental Finals Europe at CeBIT, 3-5th of March.

What a shit competition... 4 matchs to play in 2 days. All of them were played with hours late, the second match was reported from saturday to sunday and even if it was very fast (16:2 16:2) the next one (for the third place) had to be transormed into a bo1. There was no HLTV and the stream was shit. Comentators sucked Players heard commentators during the final wich make a nice victory less nice, it's a pity. When you see all the money that final must have cost... Anyway good game [M] but I'm glag we have an eswc.fr.

LOL :))) Some very true stuff said there. About commentators/players stuff...I really can't believe it. Also, about changing bo3 to one-map!? I mean, LOL? It can only happen at ESL :))))))

those helicopter headsets are supposed to make it impossible for the players to hear anything but the game itself, organisers wouldn't spend money in them (they are expensive) if it wasn't working... did you learn from the players themselves they could hear the (crappy) commentators ? anyway, my "main" team mate was there and it wasn't a really good event, only a few people, and a stupid rule for the aim_map contest (he was owning everyone but you had to play until 8pm or so to win the prize so he stopped after 2 hours...). still he played a bit with d4 who were nice to him :] gg -M-, deserved.

if you go on www.team-aaa.com and watch the videos of the live, you will see an interview with Dr Crow telling us more stuff about those famous headsets, and i don't think emulate would have asked the admins to stop the match if we actually couldnt hear the stupid commentator, who couldnt even get most of the stuff said right.

omg that sucks so hard... that's a total shame, nothing is more important in competitive CS than hiding that kind of stuff from the players :l

You must be kidding me, do you really think that emL are top5 in the world? huh. At the moment there are teams as: fnatic SK mTw.dk WeMade.FOX mousesports MYM . teams that I can count as better than emL for sure. emuLate aren't in the best shape of practising and it seems like they will not do it soon too, so I believe that even teams as ATS.dk mibr and Alternate will be better then them. And yes, I still think that sixeR is better than mSx and he just proofs it.

honnestly, they would get crushed... maybe not against fnatic right now (they would still lose though) but I really think they can't do any damage against teams like mTw or SK.
