Cloud9 book ESL One New York spot

Cloud9 have secured the final spot at ESL One New York after defeating Rise Nation 2-1 in the grand final of the North American qualifier.

Day of the qualifier began with Cloud9 moving past Complexity on two maps, with the team's newest members, Tarik "tarik" Celik and William "RUSH" Wierzba, both putting in big numbers. Rise Nation then pulled off quite the upset as they came from behind to beat CLG 2-1 after losing the opening map of the series.

The grand final kicked off on Cobblestone, where Rise Nation picked up two rounds either side of a massive 13-round streak from Cloud9. In the second half, a force buy from Rise Nation canceled out Cloud9's pistol round win, but Jake "Stewie2K" Yip's men immediately regained control of the game, setting themselves up for an easy 16-3 win.

Cloud9 through to ESL One New York

Map two, Mirage, saw Rise Nation jump out to an impressive 9-0 lead on the CT side. A quad kill from Stewie2K then helped Cloud9 to finally break their opponents' streak, with the Terrorists still picking up three more rounds before the end of the half. After switching sides, Cloud9 secured five rounds in a row, bringing the deficit to 9-11, but then Rise Nation picked up the pace and won five rounds without response to take the series to a third map.

It all came down to Inferno, where Cloud9 took a whopping 13 rounds on the CT side after giving Rise Nation very little room to operate throughout the half. Upon switching to the Terrorist side, Cloud9 won three rounds straight to seal a 2-1 victory and advance to ESL One New York.

tweets went out days ago saying ELiGE was sticking with Team Liquid. Liquid definitely deserves to be at this event. They've been flying under the radar as every keeps paying attention to what Cloud9 is doing with their new team. I really think Liquid sticking with this squad is going to pay off a lot.

To be honest, i'm french, and I'd rather be a fan of nv than g2, g2 is such an arrogant team, the way the shuffle was done was really bad, and i'm happy to see scream/rpk/happy having more succes than g2. Cause i'm pretty sure they will. G2 is just a team of super stars supposed to be insanely good, but they're not. They can't play csgo together, they're just good indivudually

Idk what to say about that bro. On Nuke i fell like they weren't focusing, like they weren't in the game, they were potatoes on Nuke, maybe lack of practice on that map. And on Mirage, i really don't know wtf happened. They used to be one of the best teams on Mirage. Maybe because of n0thing, he was very good on Mirage and he had good strats, but I still can't tell myself how they lost Mirage.

C9 is not some tactical team what do you mean playing puggy style? They are a pug team, even when Sean Gares was there they were a pug team but he had the ability to review demos and counter strat his opponent's. Anyway they are a pug fpl team so idk what your point is they just aren't that sick atm so random tier 4 no name team was able to get a map on them.

Everyone is talking about how big c9 r gonna be but they lost maps rise nation(who tf r they) and l4org (who tf r they sound like their 6) but nobody has seen liquid under the radar who could soon take title of best na team(that's actually in North America so not including the South American teams)

nV had to beat Gambit for this spot, while C9 needed only a win against Rise Nation, a team no one has ever heard of.

1. and 2. place to Astralis or SK The rest is really unclear. How will Faze and C9 play with their rosterchanges? Both teams had a short preparationtime and especially for c9 they have so much potential but u could see in the Qualifier that they strong individually without so much teamplay yet. Id like to see a strong VP but doubt it. maybe papa and his grandpas can surprise me. Navi with Zeus is also interesting. G2 and Liquid wont matter imo

Valve should find a 'revolutionised' way how to make viewing a counter strike matches more interesting and less headache, rather than watching aiming skills all the way.
