EPICENTER 2017 to offer $500,000 prize

Epic Esports Events has announced that the 2017 edition of EPICENTER will have $500,000 on offer.

In a video posted on Twitter, the Russia-based event organiser unveiled the first details about the event along with subtle hints about some of the participating teams, with the logos of FaZe, Astralis, and Gambit being briefly shown.

EPICENTER 2016 took place in October at the VTB Ice Palace, with eight teams in attendance. dignitas, now known as North, took home the grand prize of $250,000 after defeating Virtus.pro 2-1 in the grand final.

More details about the event, including tournament format and a final list of participants, are expected to be released by Epic Esports Events in the coming weeks.

Probably just Russian mentality. It's kinda hard to pay 150 RUB ($2.50) for a hot dog that costs 30 RUB ($0.50) outside the stadium when average salary in your country is $500.

I have all the understanding in the world for the average salary part, though is it normalt that you can bring you own stuff into concerts, football games, musicfestivals, hockey games and so forth, in Rusia? I'm guessing no, so why should it be any different. I know its going to sound hard, but either you have the money to go to a concert, game, event or you dont. That's my view at least.

No, you're right. It's just that Russian people are not used to this. This kind of treatment at events has appeared only after USSR. Many still bring food in hidden way on events. This mentality comes from USSR times when people had to find their ways around system to live comfortably.

also i had a strange feeling when i came in navi t shirt and i saw so many kids there (i am 25) and they were like GO NAVI GO. after navi lost to dignitas same kids were screaming NAVI NOOBS and they were almost laughing at me that i was in navi t shirt. it's hard to be a navi fan :D
