NiP beat Gambit to top DH Malmö Group C
Ninjas in Pyjamas are through to the playoffs at DreamHack Masters Malmö after topping Group C with a hard-fought 2-1 win over current Major champions Gambit.
The series kicked off on Ninjas in Pyjamas's map pick, Cache, where the first half was a complete blowout. Ninjas in Pyjamas's offense was so prolific throughout the half that Gambit never managed to string rounds together, with the Swedes comfortably securing a 13-2 lead.
Many certainly believed that the game was all but over, but Rustem "mou" Telepov single-handedly rescued his team with an ace in the pistol round, picking up four kills in a 2v4 situation. That was the start of a phenomenal run from the Kazakh team, who won 11 rounds in a row to tie up the game at 13-13.
After a tactical pause, Ninjas in Pyjamas took a more aggressive approach, which earned them two rounds in a row and put them on map point. However, mou opened up the A site with two key frags in the next round, putting the Swedes in a tough economic situation for the 30th round, which would go Gambit's way.

Gambit took the lead for the first time in the game by winning the first round of overtime, but Ninjas in Pyjamas tightened up their defense and won the next two rounds of the half. Ninjas in Pyjamas then won the first round as Terrorists before William "draken" Sundin wrapped things up with a quad kill.
Ninjas in Pyjamas carried their momentum into the second map, Overpass, and strolled to a 5-1 lead despite losing the pistol round. Gambit still tried to get back into the game, eventually hitting six rounds by the end of the half thanks to a couple of force buys.
Gambit came out strongly in the second half, winning eight of the first nine rounds to bring the scoreline to 14-10. It looked like the match would go to a third map, but draken kept Ninjas in Pyjamas in the game by turning around a seemingly impossible 1v2 situation with two amazing flick shots.
That one round turned the game on its head as it inspired NiP won five rounds in a row to reach match point before Gambit secured the final round, forcing overtime, in which they would pick up two rounds in both halves to take the match to a third map.

It all came down to Train, where Gambit came out the stronger and picked up the opening four rounds of the game. NiP's offense then finally came to life, earning them six rounds in a row. Every time that a round went Gambit's way, they were immediately countered by the Swedes, who would take a 9-6 lead into the break.
NiP further added to their lead by taking the pistol round as CT and the subsequent anti-ecos. After getting their economy in order, Gambit finally picked up a round, but then they had to deal with an economic reset. With a sizeable gap and no money in the bank, the Kazakh team was simply helpless to prevent the Ninjas from winning the map.
