North defeat Cloud9, to DH Montreal final

North have secured their place in the DreamHack Open Montreal grand final after defeating Cloud9 2-0 (16-6 on Train and 16-11 on Cobblestone).

The second semi-final of the day kicked off on Train, Cloud9's map choice, with North picking up the Terrorist pistol round thanks to a flawless A execution. The Danes followed that up with slow-paced anti-ecos, and kept extending their lead with fast plays in the gun rounds, setting themselves up for an 8-0 lead.

Jake "Stewie2K" Yip and co. then won their first two rounds – the first of them the result of a 1v4 clutch from William "RUSH" Wierzba in a semi-buy –, and eventually grabbed two more before the break.

Now as Counter-Terrorists, North secured yet another perfect pistol round. After winning the subsequent anti-ecos, the Danish squad increased their lead to 14-4. Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen's men still lost two more rounds, but they would easily close out the first map with a 16-6 score.

North have made it to the DreamHack Montreal grand final

On Cobblestone, a clean quad-kill from Philip "aizy" Aistrup helped North to win the Counter-Terrorist pistol. In the first gun round, Timothy "autimatic" Ta found four frags to power Cloud9 to secure their first round.

The North American squad would then grab one more before North went on a massive run for an 8-2 lead. In the next round, RUSH clutched a 1v2 situation, but Cloud9 were not able to string any rounds together, and had to settle for just four rounds in the half.

After picking up the pistol round, their fourth in the series, the Danes easily brought their lead to 14-4. Cloud9 then kept themselves in the game by winning seven straight rounds, but North had their eyes set on the final and eventually locked down the map.

You should at least give them 3 months before writing them off like that. FaZe and G2 didn't exactly start off strong. I'm not saying C9 are tier one material, but they definitely can be better than what they are now. Only a few weeks old ffs.

Of course. But I think this lineup is not gonna work even after 1 year. Just my subjective opinion. ;)

you're right. New c9 didn't really improve upon old c9. the problem is c9 still doesn't have a legitimate IGL.

I think they should go back to stew igl. tarik is kinda inexperienced in that regard and also I haven't really seen stew igl'ing affect his plays too much. he still can hold his own weight.

It won't happen just because stew said that he doesn't want to igl and tarik wants that role

welcome to the new hltv, where everyone calls a team the next #1 or that the team is dead after 1 tournament. no thought process

Well, my opinion wasn't based on their current result or their first few games with new lineup.

No this team will be suck than the previous one. Just watching alone, even if they don't practice. No team will dry peek long B on Cbble. Stewie is an overrated player who thinks he's really good. I thought NA superteam? Looks like just bunch of NA RANK S team, well at least in Rank S they know how to smoke executes. Second no chemistry whatsoever. Mark my words. This team will not succeed. I guess Liquid or CLG will be the new top NA. This team, forget it, no chance at all.

That's just your opinion. Heck, what you said could be true a couple months down the road, but it still doesn't justify calling them immediate failure. Everyone deserves some time to prove themselves.

This is also just a IMT / North redemption tournament tbh, not something special. If anything the only match worth watching this tourney is IMT vs. North right now, but mouz vs. Liquid is more exciting atm

Unfortunately, I think IMT will get revenge for the 2-0 they suffered at Malmo. That's how it always works.

If North doesn't win this one, they won't ever become top 1. It's IMT in a irrelevant DH final. I mean cmon...

C9 flashes were one of the best when nothing was around, now they look like the entire team is going back to square one.

Agree, they have the best flashes before a wide peek. Now, I haven't seen one. Well looks like the whole team just don't know how to support a play and just depend on aim skill alone. Also it's dreamhack, why would they not utilize valens as the caller? Now im starting to believe Stewie is an overrated player. People have been telling that if the IGL role is remove from his shoulder, he'll be unleashed. Yes he was unleashed to Rank S strats whatsoever. Tarik calling is literally a peanut brain call.

I'd suggest nothing should be hired as assistant coach for 6 months to fix up those shits. It's normal for a professional to become disoriented in a new working environment, but with a proper training supervision, the maturing process can be done in the most efficient manner. And Stewie's ain't a robot, he's a normal human being, losing a good brother takes a longer time to heal.

Shroud and N0thing, They kick us for this? Looks like a bunch of amateurs. If they have the old lineup, they could won or have won 1 map at least. T-side is just awful to watch.
