Snax: "I am done with being the IGL"

The 24-year old Virtus.pro star Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski put out a statement on his Facebook page, stating that he will no longer be the in-game leader of the Polish side. Alongside that, Snax revealed some of the issues the team faced in the past few months.

Following another underwhelming result by Virtus.pro, a 7-8th at ESL One New York, and not long after hinting at the possibility in our recent interview, Janusz "⁠Snax⁠" Pogorzelski took to social media to announce that he will no longer be calling for the Polish side.

Snax stepped down as the in-game leader of Virtus.pro

In the Facebook post, Snax pointed out that some of the older members of the team weren't able to adapt and play up to the level necessary for the free-flowing playstyle he wanted to utilize work.

"Finally the time has come everyone's been waiting for, I'm done with being the IGL as of right now. I dont think I was a bad IGL, I think I did good enough (my IGL-ing was to make neo perform better who was supposed to focus on playing and make it better, but it didnt work out it looks like). However, the older part of the roster couldn't adapt to the style I always wanted (freestyle). So they looked for the problems at every step."

"I think my decision to step down is the right one because some people are lacking skill to carry the team. I'll have freedom to play my own Counter-Strike and I hope it will be more than enough to make it through the groups because lately no one's been showing up (except for pasha who played very well). Its amazing that for the better of the team, I sacrificed myself (one of the better in the team) to become an IGL just to make our position better and sacrificed not being in the top 20 list, but this game is about teamplay and playing like a team."

"I thought that the old crew in the team were looking for mistakes everywhere for no reason when everyone should focus on themselves. For now, new times have come, we'll play more structured and I will be able to focus on myself. I wish my teamates to find themselves because we've been waiting for this for a while now. ;)"

"The times had changed, most teams have stars, rarely anyone gets ratings below 0.80 and in our team rarely anyone goes over 1.00 rating. Let's hope experience the boys have after 17 years of playing CS will finally show. I hope neo has rested after not being IGL for over half a year. :)"

I think after being top3 at the end of 2016 he's justified in being upset with the 9 month slump they have been in. He isn't being toxic I think he is just being realistic and I can honestly see NEO/taz/byali blaming his IGL'ing even if they had no better option. I just want to see them in form again. They have the potential to be a top team still, perhaps not #1, but top5 at least... which is impressive in this era of super teams (g2, faze, Astralis, etc). Even as a non polish cs fan CSGO was just exciting when these guys played to their fullest potential and I just want to see the old "VP magic". I hope that they can get back to their normal form, best of luck to them!

Not what he said - he wanted to play a loose freestyle way - like his normal play and not have set plays. He is wrong in some ways and right in others - they are not playing the current meta and only 2 have the skills to play a freestyle way and be successful - Snax and pasha. To play in his loose style Neo, Taz and byali are not equipped with skills to do it. It is blunt honesty and if you look at any of the top 10 teams none of them are playing that style either. Snax can't expect to win playing hero style CS - he wanted his team to all play like he does and they just don't have the skill to do it and to be fair only a handful of players in the world do. That is why there is a new team based play style that minimizes individual battles and sets up trade outs or more guns on one opponent at a time. I am a fan of VP but the old single gun fight way was no longer going to work.

To his defense, what was his rank last year? Top 5? And Neo wanted to stop IGLing and no one wanted to step up. I think the problem is that neo and taz aren’t going 100% what they should. I understand they have kids and such. But I have a kid myself and married. Working 58 hours a week. And during those times I’m at work I don’t go oh I’m leaving work need to spend some time with my kid. I work and then o spend time with my kid. Playing csgo at their level actually working a full time job is the same thing. Dedicate the hours you need to work and then do you outside of work life.

Well I was a witness where Russian and Polish guys were doing the same. Once I was alone among 4 Russians and two of them were bullying me because we were loosing the rounds and they decided to put a blame on me.They were force buying every single round and when we were about to full buy they had no money and I had full gear and one of them said drop me. Same with Polish guys. 3 polish guys were bullying ruski because he was ruski (nice guy BTW giving info in English etc). So I must say that it depends from personality of people not nationality.

how did i prove your point? lol snax started to awp mid 2016 stopped awping and took over igl around katowice 2017 in that period of time he was consistently a top 5-10 awper pasha has been awping again since katowice 2017 and hes been up and down snax was a better and more consistent awper than pasha, maybe as a player pasha has been better lately but there is no doubt that snax is the better awper and the stats back that up

Pasha is awping to 99% and if he the better player lately that also shows us that pasha's awping > snax's. Snax still picks up the second awp quite oftenly and doesn't play better with it.

the first 4 events (3 of those are lan) were in 2017, in all of those events snax awped and had a higher rating then pasha ever did while awping in 2017. Statistically snax has a higher rating than pasha while awping that is a pure fact you can state your "pure facts" all you want but stats claim otherwise bye

It is not professional of him to throw his teammates under the bus however i fully understand his spite. Form past three months : byali > pasha > snax > neo > taz I don't understand why TaZ isn't IGL, they have been great before they switched to Snax & then NEO. Not to mention he is bottom fragging most of the time. If you don't plan to IGL, then retire, you have a 0.90 rating while not IGLing.

Shots fired xD It probably doesn't sound so harsh in polish, but he basically said TaZ and Neo need to step up their game, because in the state they are now they won't be beating good teams any time soon. Also Snax has been poor AF lately should look into himself a little bit. Shox made it work and people were sayin' shoxbot a few months ago when he was almost consistently bottom of his team, but it's also true his teammates are making his job easier than guys in VP did for snax.
