Astralis beat Liquid in ELEAGUE opener

Astralis begin their run at ELEAGUE Premier with a win over red-hot Liquid to move on to the winners' match.

After swaying away from Overpass at ESL One New York, Astralis left the map into the pool, and the randomizer picked it for the best-of-one opening match.

Liquid began their T side with an A execute, but Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen and Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander put up a solid defense and picked up the pistol round. Despite losing multiple players both rounds, Astralis followed up with second and third round wins, putting their CT economy in a good position. A well-timed flash by the Danes led to Liquid getting shut down in round 5, and Astralis further extended their lead.

Astralis continued their dominant run on the CT side, with Liquid unable to pick up a round. This changed in round 11, in which Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken got some tremendous entry kills on the B site. Liquid then managed only two more rounds in the first half, which they finished with a 3-12 deficit.

Astralis put up a dominant show in Atlanta

Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz kicked off the second half with a double kill with the Dual Elites, opening up the possibility of a comeback. The second round came down to a one on one, with Nick "nitr0" Cannella keeping his team in the game by taking down Nicolai "device" Reedtz on the A site. A triple kill from Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye in the 19th round cracked open the A bombsite and secured Astralis their 13th round. The Danish powerhouse converted the next round to put them up to 14.

nitr0, put into a tight spot, called for a force buy, and thanks to some heroics from Twistzz and nitr0 himself, Liquid remained in the game. The Americans managed to string a few rounds together, stabilizing their economy, and furthered the comeback effort. An amazing retake in round 25 from Twistzz and stanislaw won Liquid their 10th round, and denied Astralis the map win. The final round was a back and forth affair, but Astralis won the trade battle and closed out the map, 16-11.

He seems like the type of guy to need a good pistol round and some easy eco frags to actually start playing, mentality issues i guess

He can't actually see the screen because of his retarded seating position so he has to just play by instinct using the Force like a Jedi. Sometimes he gets lucky, sometimes he socks.

Liquid might not make it out of groups. Even if SK beat Heroic, they will have to defeat one of Astralis or SK in a BO3. Liquid are stronger in a BO3 and have a much better chance of winning but the same goes for Astralis and SK.

Remember Liquid got SK's number so they could do it again and make it out (and possibly eliminate SK)

And vice versa. SK have Liquid's number too. Now compare the achievements of the teams and tell me which one is more dangerous.

But what i mean is that Liquid have beaten them the last 2 times, yes SK is better overall but Liquid have shown they know exactly where to be, when to be there, and how to kill them. I think the potential for a 3-peat is there but SK are probs counter stratting as we speak.

Clearly Liquid just wanted to take out SK of the tournament early so they don't have to deal with them on the finals, clever Nitro as always.
