Spirit through to SL i-League Invitational Shanghai

Spirit beat AVANGAR, 2-1, in the SL i-League Invitational Shanghai final to earn a ticket to the tournament in China.

After an intense SL i-League Invitational Shanghai CIS qualifier that saw Spirit make the final after beating Sherifi and FORZE—the latter having beaten the likes of Tengri and FlipSid3—and AVANGAR, who beat pro100 and Vega Squadron on their way there, it was ultimately Spirit who clinched a spot in Shanghai after three maps.

The final started out with Spirit—with Vladyslav "arch" Svistov standing in for the recently benched Sergey "starix" Ischuk—and the Kazakh-Russian team AVANGAR, with the winner earning a ticket to SL i-League Shanghai taking place the first week of November.

The first map was Mirage, AVANGAR’s pick. The Kazakh side started on the terrorist side, and won the pistol round. They weren’t able to get the three first rounds, however, as Spirit won the third and ran away with a 5-2 lead. The half, though, ended up being the first of two close ones, as AVANGAR were able to win two rounds before trading three rounds a side for an 8-7 half favoring Spirit.

The second half of the map saw AVANGAR mount an incredible comeback as the Kazakh side was able to bring an 8-15 deficit back to a tie winning seven rounds in a row. After kicking the overtime off, AVANGAR closed it out winning four out of the six extra rounds to take it 19-17.

Spirit can now lounge and relax after a hard fought match with AVANGAR

Spirit started on the CT side in their map pick, Cobblestone, and won the pistol round. The Kazakhs, however, won the forcebuy after Timur "buster" Tulepov and Dzhami "Jame" Ali got three CZ75 opening frags allowing a quick bomb plant. After ten rounds AVANGAR were up 7-3, but Spirit finally got it together and turned it around to an 8-7 lead.

The second half start with Spirit carrying their momentum from the end of the first half, as they were able to chain five rounds in a row despite losing the first one to increase their lead to 13-8. AVANGAR once again started winning rounds, trying to make the comeback, but Spirit were able to close the map and take it to the decider with a final score of 16-13.

Spirit started off dominating on Overpass, the decider. The Russian-Ukrainian side took a seven round lead before AVANGAR were even able to put a tally on the scoreboard. The Kazakh team was able to bring it back later in the half, however, as they won five more rounds before switching sides.

Dmitriy "Dimaoneshot" Bandurka got his team a bit closer to qualifying in the last pistol round of the match with a triple. With a 12-6 lead, Spirit won the first gun round, getting ever closer to Shanghai. AVANGAR were able to put a round on the board when trailing 7-15, but Spirit finally closed it out the following round to seal their pass to the SL i-League Invitational Shanghai.

This is an international site, please write your comment in English. Comments in another language will be deleted. I like how poor, triggered russians tend to write their comments in russian because they know for certain that if they try English they will just make fools of themselves.

2 online matches with random 5 ua and random 5 rus players make a difference? That is not how you tell if a player is good or not. And these lineups arent even the best in the 1st place. Jesus, this is so retarded. Judging by your logic, Turkey scene> Rus scene hltv.org/matches/2298069/russia-vs-turke.. And Turkey scene > french scene hltv.org/matches/2305347/france-vs-turke.. Lmao

Ukraine had dozens of talents in 1.5-1.6 and almost dominated the whole scene in its time but now all you have is a bunch of old folks with potato aim and s1mple You have no more upcoming players, no more new teams. And i just showed you some matches with the best ua lineups that you could ever create. And they still suxxx But you linked some bo1 games with tier3 french against fking SS

Why would you create a ua lineup tho? We dont have IGL's - only zeus and bot blad3, we dont have good entries, no snipers at all... You have decent players for almost any roles. You simply cant compare it this way. As I said, making a team of "the best players" shows fucking nothing. S1mple > any rus player Zeus > any rus IGL Coldy1 > most rus players Even fucking blad3 > most rus IGL's, if you could call them that. Yeah, you have upcoming talents, so do we. Yours just have better opportunities (electronic, mir, etc) Smike is a great player, arch is probably the most promising, crush is not bad, jR is god damn insane (but he is, after all, in a fairly decent team). You do indeed have more decent, upcoming players, but hey? Show me a russian based (3 players min) team beating Na'Vi on LAN in a bo3? Can you? I dont think so. Na'Vi could be even better if they removed washed up decoy seized and added ange1l (who actually does his role and could help zeus), edward could also give space to jR, who would take the awp from s1mple and add firepower. What russian based mix could be better then that? Which one? Show me.

U forget, that russia has many talents, but much of them has ping more than 150-200 to valve or big leagues servers (EU or asian). Thats why no practice and no pro scene...
