North prevail in Danish derby to move on to EL semis

North have prevailed over Heroic in the Danish derby that was the last ELEAGUE Premier quarter-finals (2-0; Overpass 16-7, Mirage 16-7).

The last semi-finals spot at ELEAGUE Premier was decided between Denmark's second and third-best team, North and HEROIC, who started the series on the latter's pick, Overpass.

Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke kicked things off with a 1v2 clutch in the pistol round, setting his team up for a 3-0 lead early on as CT. The next four rounds were split evenly between the two squads, with HEROIC unable to string them together, allowing North the economic advantage.

k0nfig and Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså each pitching in with two kills in the eighth round pushed the favorites to a 9-2 lead, but Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer's men managed to surprise their opponents in the next eco round to grab five overall before the half ended.

The last quarter-final was all about North

HEROIC then lowered the deficit to 7-10 with the pistol round and a scary anti-eco, in which Andreas "MODDII" Fridh defused the bomb up against two players, but it was all for naught. North didn't allow for any more rounds to be picked up by their rivals, securing six in a row for a 16-7 win.

At the beginning of Mirage, Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen's side once again picked up the lead on the offense, although that time they were stopped in the third round by an eco and two well-placed headshots by MODDII with a stolen AK-47.

HEROIC got four rounds in a row out of the eco win, before k0nfig and valde turned a 2v4 situation on the B bombsite around with two kills apiece. MODDII's 1v1 clutch then put his team up on 5-3, but North quickly took over with MSL picking up three crucial kills that led to a streak of five rounds. Each team then grabbed one round at the end of the half, with North switching to the defense with a comfortable 9-6.

All of the action in the first several rounds of the second half was happening on the A bombsite, which North managed to defend over and over aside from one instance as they extended their lead to 14-7. René "cajunb" Borg then saved what could have been a tough B retake with a big triple-kill, helping North close out the series with another 16-7 scoreline.

keep in mind north are possibly the 2nd best team in the world rn. I'd say they fall short of FaZe, but are pretty much on par with G2 and SKG if not slightly better than SK (at the current state they're in).

ye, it's insane how people refuse to acknowledge that North is both a bigger org (The constant +k0nfig/valde -xxx/xxx player threads) and a better team. Tbh I think North will win this season of eleague, unless the players have an off-day when it counts.

They will have really really hard time beating faze tbh. k0nfig need to go absolute mental ham tomorrow (like he did week ago vs faze on mirage during esl pro league match 31 frags iirc) if north wants to stand a chance. For me final is tomorrow either north or faze will take the trophy home.

I think a team like North is what's needed to beat FaZe. But yes, the North-players cannot have an off-day vs. them, but same could be said about the FaZe-lineup in this match

Not really tbh. We saw it number of times when niko went off rain took lead and rekt enemy team or guardian stepped up or olof. For North if k0nfig doesn't go ham it's pretty much gg, rest of their players are really good, but they are no near level of faze sadly they just don't have ability to go mental and drop 30 bombs. Anyway really excited to watch tomorrow's awesome game.
