Astralis take down Cloud9, to ELEAGUE Premier final

Astralis are the first grand finalist of ELEAGUE Premier 2017 after defeating Cloud9 on three maps(12-16 on Mirage, 16-14 on Overpass and 16-4 on Inferno) in the last-four stage.

The first semi-final of the ELEAGUE Premier playoffs started on Mirage, Cloud9's map pick, and saw Astralis win the Counter-Terrorist pistol thanks to a quad-kill from Nicolai "device" Reedtz. The Danes should have seized the chance and taken a sizeable lead, but the North Americans hit back immediately and strung five rounds together.

After getting their second round of the game on the board, the Danish giants were reset once again. Down 2-9, Astralis finally tightened up their defense, securing three rounds in a row, but then Tarik "tarik" Celik gave Cloud9 their 10th round of the game with a 1v2 clutch.

In the second half, the North American squad won the first two rounds, but bomb plants from Astralis on both occasions allowed the Danes to be fully equipped in the next round. And even though Cloud9 found the two opening kills, Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen and Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth clutched a 2v5, with the 24-year-old getting four frags to his name.

Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander's men were only able to follow it up with three more rounds, but then Cloud9 responded with three rounds in a row to hit match point. In the next round, the North American team came close to finishing off the map, but a 1v3 clutch from Xyp9x kept his team in the race. Still, the North Americans were not fazed by Astralis' attacks, and closed out the map with a tight B hold.

device's Astralis lost the first map despite an impressive performance from him

With a three-man stack up at long, Cloud9 grabbed the Counter-Terrorist pistol on Overpass, courtesy of a quad-kill from Timothy "autimatic" Ta. Astralis would turn things around by winning a force-buy, but the game would turn out to be a keenly-contested affair as neither side could stamp their authority over the other.

Jake "Stewie2K" Yip denied dupreeh a 1v3 clutch in the 13th round, leaving the Danes strapped for cash for the final stages of the half, Still, they managed to win the remaining two rounds, taking a narrow 8-7 lead into the break.

An impressive ace from autimatic in the second pistol, which included a 1v3 post-plant clutch with three clean USP-S headshots, set his team up for a 10-8 lead. Astralis then won the first full gun round, but they could not follow it up, giving Cloud9 the chance to string three more rounds together.

Cloud9 could not close out the series on Overpass

Astralis then found a lifeline as Xyp9x clutched a 1v2 situation. That key action swung the momentum back in Astralis' favour, with the Danish giants winning six of the next seven rounds to seal a hard-fought 16-14 victory and take the series to a third map.

The decider map was Inferno, where Astralis got off to a flying start on the CT side as they cruised to an overwhelming 14-1 lead after giving Cloud9 very little room to operate throughout the half.

The North Americans refused to throw in the towel, and picked up the CT pistol and the subsequent two rounds. But after buying up, gla1ve's squad regained control of proceedings, winning back-to-back rounds to take the map, 16-4, and seal passage to the grand final.

Honestly the fix is a BR player or an EU player. They do not have to be fully NA. At least not if they want results, no use having an awper who is more inconsistent than a standard global player.

the org treated him well, the player said that they didnt practice enough even they they were top 2/1 in the world (them in astralis had a good rivalry going on). So he left in january and his team is still tier 2 like the rest of na teams.

sure, but was good enough to knock out g2 and astralis from esl new york 2016, beat g2 again in northern arena montreal, won eleague and came in second at ecs? The ladder two had the same T1 teams that show up at a major. They were very close to last years esl new york playoffs and lost to vp 14-16. With this being said Optic got really bad draws and went against astralis and then vp in the first two rounds of groups. These two both won and made it to the grandfinal. One bad tournament does not = disband. They were first or second in the world at the time. But you can be ignorant, thats fine...i guess my team and yours had a bit of a rivalry at the time. It is cool to not like a team, but now you are just biased.

No i definitely liked the team and they did get a bit unlucky at eleague major those are some decent achievements but that was after g2 fell of form and before astralis got glaive correct? Maybe i shouldnt assume they couldnt anything is possible i just dont think they would of kept form all the way to the next major

we had 5 for a long time and then when stan left we picked up multiple different 5ths to try to see if someone would work. Nothing was working out, doesnt mean the team wasnt great. With this being said THIS team you speak of that had trouble finding a fifth was not great and in fact awful. Thats why i said that when stan left he ruined the best na cs team ever. So they had a lot of fifths because a lot of people wanted to be a part of the org and with the other 4, just none of them were working out.

lol i followed the cs scene before optic came in. Optic are just a great org and i was really pumped when they came into the scene. I only watch their cs team, nothing else. Their vision series is great and the owner is a really cool guy. You cant say the reason we dont have a major is because another team beat us. That just means that the na teams werent good enough to win one. Then when na finally had a team with enough talent, stanislaw left and took that away. Lacking team talent is the obvious reason why na does not have a major, but the fact is that we could have won one and stanislaw took that away.

Why do people believe that kicking skadoodle is the best answer when it's clear he has skill and can excel in a system. Although he does lack in terms of individual creativity, Ska can thrive in a system and when utilized correctly, think IBP and Seangares days, can be the best awper in NA. Thoughts?
