IEM Oakland 2017NiP ease past TheMongolz; EnVyUs defeat Cloud9
NiP have picked up another victory at IEM Oakland after beating TheMongolz, while EnVyUs grabbed a lifeline in the tournament following their win over Cloud9.
Ninjas in Pyjamas and The MongolZ faced off on Train, and the Swedes seemed ready to get in the driving seat after Fredrik "REZ" Sterner found three enemies with a CZ-75 in the CT pistol. With a triple-kill of his own, however, Enkhtaivan "Machinegun" Lkhagva led his team to pick up a quick 2-0 score.
Richard "Xizt" Landström's squad would then respond with a shoddy buy win in the third round, setting themselves up for a one-round lead before The MongolZ equalized things off. It was only in the tenth round that TheMongolz got their fourth with a nearly-flawless A execution, but it would be their last as Ninjas in Pyjamas kept cruising past them.
In the second half, Machinegun and co. secured their second pistol of the map thanks to yet another trio of kills from the 27-year-old, but Ninjas in Pyjamas would immediately reply with a force-buy win, paving a way for them to easily lock down the map 16-5.

The match between Envy and Cloud9 was played on Cobblestone, with the Frenchmen getting off to a better start by winning the CT pistol and the subsequent anti-ecos. The North Americans then responded with a successful B execution, and from that point, they would break through their opponents' defense for five straight rounds.
Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer's team then finally found a foothold on the map, securing the next two rounds to equalize the score at 5-5. Even though Cloud9 were trying to find a way to get back to the lead, the French squad would grab a 7-5 score before both teams traded rounds back-to-back.
Now playing as Terrorists, Envy lost the pistol but picked up the following force-buy, setting themselves up for a 11-8 score. Despite Cloud9's efforts, EnVyUs simply continued to string rounds together, finishing off the map, 16-8, with a nearly-flawless T-side to find a lifeline at IEM Oakland.
