fnatic and Luminosity win in Odense

FaZe and fnatic faced off on Inferno in their first matches in Group A. The CT-sided FaZe won the first two rounds of the match but fnatic hit back in the third round to trail 2-1. fnatic secured three more rounds to take the lead (4-2).

FaZe responded with double kills from Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač & Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen, giving FaZe their third round. Ladislav "⁠GuardiaN⁠" Kovács & company had a strong end to the half and won it 8-7.

fnatic won their first game

fnatic started their CT-side campaign with three round victories to lead 10-8 but NiKo showed up with a quad kill in a 2vs5 situation in the first weapon round to make it 10-9. GuardiaN clutched a 1vs2 in the following round to tie it up at 10-10.

fnatic had four match points to close out the game but a 1vs3 by karrigan, a 2vs4 by Olof "⁠olofmeister⁠" Kajbjer & GuardiaN, and a 2vs4 by karrigan & Håvard "⁠rain⁠" Nygaard tied the game at 15-15 and took it to overtime. fnatic, unfazed, won four rounds in a row in overtime to win the match 19-15.

In the other Group A matchup, HellRaisers and Luminosity met on Cache. The Brazilian squad had a flying start on the T-side and won eleven rounds in a row. HellRaisers salvaged three rounds towards the end to trail 12-3.

HellRaisers made an admirable comeback in the second half, tying the game at 14-14. Gustavo "⁠yel⁠" Knittel won a 1vs1 against Özgür "⁠woxic⁠" Eker in the twenty-ninth round to earn Luminosity one match point but HellRaisers won the last round to take the game to overtime. Luminosity won the game 25-23 after three overtimes.
