OpTic edge out SK; NRG upset NiP in Odense

As the first day of the ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals is coming to an end, two teams managed to pick up 16-14 upsets: OpTic defeated SK and NRG took down NiP.

OpTic and SK met on Mirage, with the start of the game being a back and forth affair. OpTic started off with a pistol round win, but lost the follow-up, which was key for the Brazilians to take a 6-4 lead.

Adam "⁠friberg⁠" Friberg's two kills on force buy allowed OpTic to get to six round on the CT side, but that is where they were stopped as Ricardo "⁠boltz⁠" Prass picked up three in round number 15 to make the score 9-6.

OpTic's tactical duo managed to do enough to pick up a win over SK

With a pistol round win and an early economy reset going their way, the European mixture was off to a great start in the second half of Mirage and he lead was in OpTic's hands shortly. SK's second round win on the CT side coming as a result of Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo's triple with the AWP, but it was once again being followed with a hard reset, and OpTic went up to a 14-11 lead.

As Marcelo "⁠coldzera⁠" David and co. were mounting a comeback, bringing the score to 14-14 and the economy back in their favor, a B rush in which Oscar "⁠mixwell⁠" Cañellas and Kevin "⁠HS⁠" Tarn got the opening kills allowed OpTic to close out the game 16-14.

With Tsvetelin "⁠CeRq⁠" Dimitrov leading the charge, NRG were off to a great start against Ninjas in Pyjamas, picking up a 7-1 lead on the T side of Overpass. Ninjas in Pyjamas was able to stabilize at the end of the half ended, with Richard "⁠Xizt⁠" Landström's triple in the 14th round playing a crucial part in their recovery.

After finishing the first half 9-6 down, Ninjas in Pyjamas tied up the score by winning the Terrorist pistol and the following two, but Damian "⁠daps⁠" Steele's side was quick to take back the lead with the rifles coming into play. William "⁠draken⁠" Sundin and Patrik "⁠f0rest⁠" Lindberg were doing their best to keep Ninjas in Pyjamas in the game, but the trio of Jacob "⁠FugLy⁠" Medina, CeRq and Allan "⁠AnJ⁠" Jensen managed to outperform them, earning a upset victory for NRG.
